Happy Birthday ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’… 37 Years and Still Running!

Rocky-Horror

37 years ago on this day – August 14, 1975 – Jim Sharman’s infamous The Rocky Horror Picture Show premiered in London, England.

It continues to hold, and break the record for the longest running film still playing theaters. Do any of you guys still go or is Repo! the new cool?

Starring Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick and Meat Loaf, the cult classic follows a newly engaged couple who have a breakdown in an isolated area and must pay a call to the bizarre residence of Dr. Frank-N-Furter.

The film continues its cult craze as audiences still line up for midnight showings across the globe and interact with the film by throwing rice, singing and acting out scenes in front of the screen. The soundtrack features classics including “Science Fiction/Double Feature,” “Time Warp,” and Metloaf’s “Hot Patootie – Bless My Soul”.

Rocky Horror is as alive as ever! We have it every third saturday of the month in my town. And after all these years it still continues to sell out. We even recently did the stage production (which I played Brad) that sold out every night. And we’re bringing it back again for a 2nd run. It’s one of my favorites. And don’t get me started on Repo haha. When it first came out I was excited because I loved everyone involved with it. Only recently was I able to sit past the five minute mark and watch the entire thing. And I don’t see what’s so special about it.

I tried to watch Repo once and I couldn’t get through it. I love Rocky Horror though. It will always be the best musical ever.
