Joe Dante’s ‘The Hole 3-D’ Getting Summer/Fall Release?

After winning me over at the Toronto International Film Festival last September, I couldn’t help but wonder where the heck Joe Dante’s 3-D teen horror-thriller The Hole (review) was, especially with the 3-D craze in full effect. Unlike Clash of the Titans and Alice in Wonderland, Dante shot the film using real 3-D. He tells Fangoria that you might get to see it in theaters come the end of summer. “We’re targeting the end of summer/early fall for a release date and are in discussions with several distributors,” he explained. Truthfully, this is a film that really relishes in the use of the third dimension and I hope everyone gets to witness what real 3-D looks like (unless of course you’ve seen Avatar). A quick other news bit, the film’s official website has gone live and features behind-the-scenes videos, images and more. Go check it out. After moving into a new town, brothers Dane and Lucas and their neighbor Julie discover a bottomless hole in their basement that brings their nightmares to life. With shadows lurking around every corner, they must face their darkest fears in order to put an end to the mystery of the hole.
