The Hammer Films produced Let Me In paves the way along with Adam Green’s polarizing slasher film Hatchet II in this week’s edition of Horror In Your House. Frank Henelotter is back with his first film in what seems like forever in Bad Biology – and it’s as strange as ever. Also out on Tuesday is the surprisingly good post-apocalyptic film Monsters. Hatchet II follows Marybeth (Danielle Harris) as she escapes from the clutches of Victor Crowley (Kane Hodder), learns the truth about his curse, and heads back into the haunted New Orleans swamp to seek revenge for her family and kill Victor Crowley once and for all…

MICAH SAYS: You would have had to be living in a cave not to hear about this film. It seems controversy seems to follow it around. As for the film itself, after multiple viewings, I can still say that is one of my favorite slashers of all time. Worth picking up, if for nothing else, just to see Kane Hodder cry. Consider the insanely violent and creative kills a little icing on the cake.

LET ME IN (Blu-ray/DVD) –Anchor Bay Entertainment

Chloe Moretz (Hit Girl from Kick-Ass) stars as Abby, a secretive 12-year old girl, who moves next door to Owen (Kodi Smit-McPhee, The Road). Owen is a social outcast who is viciously bullied at school and in his loneliness, forms a profound bond with his new neighbour. Owen can’t help noticing that Abby is like no one he has ever met before. As a string of grisly murders occupy the town, Owen has to confront the reality that this seemingly innocent girl is really a savage vampire.

MICAH SAYS: I feel like the only person who still hasn’t seen this flick. I just can’t seem to find the motivation to watch something I already saw a couple years ago. But with all the praise I feel like I need to make it happen…soon.

LORNA THE EXORCIST – Mondo Macabro

Patrick, a rich businessman, celebrates his daughter Linda’s 18th birthday by taking her and his wife to a famous casino resort in the south of France, where, 20 years earlier, he had won the money that enabled him to start his business and begin his rise to the top. At the casino he meets the beautiful and mysterious Lorna, whom he first encountered that night 20 years ago. She reminds him that he made a promise to her back then. She is the power behind his success and now she has returned to claim her reward – his daughter, Linda. A masterpiece of transgressive horror from Jess Franco.

MONSTERS (Blu-ray/DVD) – Magnolia Home Entertainment

Six years ago NASA discovered the possibility of alien life within our solar system. A probe was launched to collect samples, but crashed upon reentry over Central America. Soon after, new life forms began to appear and half of Mexico was quarantined as an INFECTED ZONE. Today, the American and Mexican military still struggle to contain the creatures.

MICAH SAYS: While this one didn’t exactly come out of nowhere, I was completely surprised with this thought-provoking Lovecraftian-ish monster flick. It’s good.

PLEASURES OF THE DAMNED: THE EUROPEAN CUT – Dire Wit Films

When a group of Satan worshiping bikers seek out a book holding the secrets of eternal life, they accidentally resurrect an ancient evil in the woods, that manifests itself in the zombified forms of cult members that killed themselves in the same woods some 200 years ago. Private Investigator, Jack Steele, while on a mission to help rescue Evelyn Crane’s brother Tommy from the hands of the bikers, gets entangled in the situation, and may be the only one that can lay the curse to rest for good.

VIRUS X – Lionsgate

A group of medical scientists are quarantined inside their lab after being infected with a deadly hyper-mutant form of the H1N1 virus. With only three days left to live, they have no way to escape and no way out. While the deceitful head doctor monitors them from a hidden surveillance room, the scientists must uncover the harrowing truth behind their detainment and force their own way to freedom.
