News Bites: Werewolves, Thai 3-D, ‘Lords of Salem’ and ‘Prometheus’ Plot?

Ecosse Films is producing the story of a werewolf in a British seaside town, reports Screen Daily. UK sales outfit WestEnd Films has added Love Bite, a teen horror-comedy to be directed by BAFTA-winning Andy de Emmony (West is West), to its Cannes slate. Love Bite, currently in pre-production, starts shooting in September in Wales from a screenplay by Ronan Blaney and Cris Cole. “School is out and the holidays have begun in the gloomy seaside town of Rainmouth. Forced to work at his pot-head mother’s B&B and to hear about his four horny friends’ sexploits, 18-year-old Jamie is desperate to escape. That is until he meets Juliana, a mysterious and beautiful American traveler. But there’s a more sinister newcomer in town: a werewolf preying on virgins – and Rainmouth becomes a hunting ground.

In other Cannes news, Thai production and sales outfit Five Star Production is unleashing the 3D horror film Dark Flight, writes Screen Daily. One of the first 3D films to emerge from Thailand, Dark Flight is being put together by the seven filmmakers who co-directed hit horror film Art Of The Devil 2. One of the seven, Kongkiat Komesiri, wrote the script, while another, Issara Nadee, is directing. The film, which is scheduled for release in Thailand this autumn, “follows a flight attendant who is haunted by the victims of plane crashes.

Darren Stein, the director of the Rose McGowan-starrer Jawbreaker, sat down with Movieweb to chat about is next endeavor: a horror film about a covent of witches. “I’m actually writing a film right now, which is about a coven of witches. It definitely feels like something new since it deals with media and reality TV. It’s sort of like picking something that’s mythic and supernatural and wanting to be famous and bringing it into the media age where the Kardashians exist. People are famous for being on TV and, perhaps not doing much…” Click the link above for more.

Making a great segue from the previous story, while Rob Zombie already put the mask on display in the first official “image” from The Lords of Salem, by clicking over to his poorly designed blog you’ll find Zombie SFX regular Wayne Toth behind-the-scenes of pre-production working with said mask. Casting is currently underway. Check out one of the pics below.

Lastly, a commenter on the website Starseeker is claiming to be in the know about the plot crunch for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus. I’ve been sitting on this waiting for it to get debunked, and it hasn’t, so who knows? Inside you’ll find out what he had to say.

From Starseeker comes what is said to be some inside info on Ridley Scott’s now-filing Alien prequel, Prometheus, which stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Sean Harris, Guy Pearce, Kate Dickie, Rafe Spall, Logan Marshall-Green, Benedict Wong and Emun Elliott. It’ll be in theaters by June 2012.

I was speaking with a guy who is working on the set of Prometheus and he showed me some pictures and told me a bout the storyline. The space jockey that you see in alien who has had his chest busted open is the guy who engineers the aliens. He sends the aliens to planet that he wants to take over. The aliens kill the locals and he flys in and pillages the land of its resources. It seems as though he is responsible for the aliens creation, I’m guessing that he is some kind of super scientist.

The engineer is played by some huge guy who is 8ft tall. He appears even bigger in the space jockey scene from Alien as he is wearing a space suit. He appears to have died in a seat that looks like it is some sort of weapon control, this is in fact the navigation system that the space ship uses to open worm holes and plot its course. Perhaps the aliens revolted and, knowing that he has been impregnated, he is desperately trying to return home to have the alien extricated?

He showed me some pictures from the set. There is a huge silver bust of the engineers head, it is approximately 15m high. It appears that the engineer is sort of leader of a civilization and there is a cult around his personality and his alien creations, this is probably due to the fact that he has mastered the technology that continues to provide the resource requirements of his home world. I also saw a picture of the actor who plays the engineer in what appeared to be some sort of cryo-chamber.
