Earlier this month Adam Green (director of Hatchet, Hatchet 2 and Frozen) and Joe Lynch (director of Wrong Turn 2 and the eagerly awaited Knights Of Badassdom) announced “Holliston”, their new six-episode series for FEARnet.
Today we learn that 80’s hair metal vet Dee Snider and GWAR frontman Oderus Urungus will be joining the cast. While I’m excited for Knights Of Badassdom and quite liked Frozen, I’m still not sure what to make of this series and this news doesn’t really do much to add to my excitement. It just seems kind of like the continued extension of the Green/Lynch brand (something these two are very savvy about), and it feels like we’re putting the cart before the horse a bit. While I’m all for them getting the notoriety they deserve, I just wish they’d keep making movies. Their films seem to be getting successively better (save for Hatchet 2 – which still had its moments) and that’s the arc of their careers that I’m more interested in following.
Maybe I’m wrong, who knows? FEARnet has the whole skinny.
Holliston is “Described as The Big Bang Theory meets Evil Dead II, the show is set in the town of Holliston, Mass., and follows the lives of Adam (Green) and Joe (Lynch), two friends chasing the dream of becoming successful horror movie filmmakers while struggling to make ends meet in their post-college jobs at a Boston cable access station where they also host a late-night movie program called The Movie Crypt. Urungus will play himself and is Adam’s “imaginary” friend who happens to live in a closet and gives him advice that is extremely misguided and offensive. The six-episode series is slated to begin production in September.”
