[TV] “Deadwood” Vet Joins “American Horror Story: Asylum”

While FX’s American Horror Story: Asylum opens for business next week (watch the first 5 minutes inside), the series is still casting up and shooting for the second half of Season 2.

Emmy nominee Ian McShane (“The Deadwood”) is the latest to join the new story from Glee’s Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, says THR. Co-creator Murphy announced the news via Twitter, noting that his character would “tussle” with returning “AHS” Emmy winner Jessica Lange’s Sister Jude.

In Episode 1 – “Welcome to Briarcliff” (Airs October 17, 10:00 pm e/p) – “Welcome to Briarcliff Manor, a notorious insane asylum home to the deranged serial killer, Bloody Face. Lurking in the shadows of this “sanctuary of healing” are terrifying evils that blur the boundaries between reality and insanity.” Written by Tim Minear; directed by Bradley Buecker.

Clea Duvall, Chris Zylka, Joseph Fiennes, Chloe Sevigny, The Voice’s Adam Levine, Mark Consuelos and newcomer Lizzie Brochere round out the cast. Other returning cast members set to play new roles include Sarah Paulson, Zachary Quinto, Evan Peters and Lily Rabe.

I loved the first season of American Horror Story and the second is looking even better. I can’t wait to see Ian McShane, he was great in Deadwood. I work late at DISH and I’ll miss the airing of Asylum, but I have a plan. My Hopper has about 2000 hours of available recording time; I have plenty of space for the whole season without having to make room. Having seen the first five minute, I’m really excited to see how the season unfolds and what happens to Adam Levine.
