All-star “American Horror Story” Season 13 sees its cast reprising their roles from previous seasons, leaving a big question mark over who AHS newcomer Ariana Grande would’ve played had her Eternal Sunshine Tour not caused a schedule conflict.
Series creator Ryan Murphy provided the answer in a new chat with THR, revealing that AHS: 13 wouldn’t just revisit all previous seasons, it also would’ve introduced a “Scream Queens” crossover for the first time ever.
“It was funny because at one point I was going to have the Scream Queens come on to this season, but Ariana was touring and I couldn’t make it work,” Murphy told THR. “But she was like, ‘I still want to do it! I just can’t be on tour.’ So I was like, ‘All right, let me think of it.’”
Grande played Chanel #2 in the 2015 horror-comedy series that ran for two seasons, but her character was killed off very early. That doesn’t mean much in the world of AHS, and Murphy hasn’t given up on “Scream Queens” or bringing Grande back.
“Sometimes it takes a while,” Murphy said. “But it was the tour which I knew. She warned me in advance that it was gonna be really hard to schedule, and the weekend we had to shoot it, she was touring, but I said, ‘OK, I’ll bump it down the road,’ so I haven’t given up. I love her.”
There’s still hope for a future “Scream Queens” crossover or revival yet, just not in “American Horror Story” Season 13.
