In case you haven’t heard of it, Sir, You Are Being Hunted has been described by its developer Big Robot as “tweedpunk robo-horror.” I hadn’t heard of that genre until this game came along, but I love it. Apparently, so does the Internet, because the game’s Kickstarter campaign just ended with an impressive £92,551, more than doubling its £40,000 goal. The game is a mix of British science fiction and horror, and uses a procedural world generator that guarantees a unique experience for every player. Basically, you run from robots who are hunting you for sport. Because the campaign reached several of its stretch goals (bonus game features for every funding milestone they reach), it will also come with multiplayer. More on that, as well as an excellent trailer, after the jump.
The multiplayer component they’re planning sounds pretty great. It will support up to four players, and your goal will be to either work together or compete to survive. Only one person can make it off the island alive, so at some point it’s going to turn into a free for all melee — but what you do until then is up to you. Could be good fun.
Sir, You Are Being Hunted releases on the PC, Mac, and Linux next summer.
