[2013 HORROR MOVIE PREVIEW] PARAMOUNT PICTURES

2013-horror-preview-banner

Paramount has never been major for the horror genre, albeit they do carry this decade’s strongest franchise, Paranormal Activity.

This past October the fourth film was a huge failure (in terms of enjoyment), but were optimistic that they’ll square things with fans when Paranormal 5 hits theaters. Let us just hope nothing ends with a link like they did with The Devil Inside

…and let’s be excited for their Latino Paranormal spin-off haunting theaters this spring. Now that could be a game changer!

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters (January 25)

After getting a taste for blood as children, Hansel (Jeremy Renner) and Gretel (Gemma Arterton) have become the ultimate vigilantes, hell bent on retribution. Now, unbeknownst to them, Hansel and Gretel have become the hunted, and must face an evil far greater than witches…their past.

World War Z (June 21)

The story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself. Enos plays Gerry’s wife Karen Lane; Kertesz is his comrade in arms, Segen.

Paranormal Activity 5 (October 25)

More witches and more of Toby the demon.

Untitled Paranormal Activity Latino Spin-off (TBD)

Christopher Landon (Disturbia) will write and direct the project, described by sources as a “cousin” to the Paranormal movies but actually not a sequel or reboot. The movie will be Latino-themed, will star a Latino cast and will tackle Catholic-based paranormal mythology. It will not, however, be in Spanish. Landon also penned both Paranormal Activity 2 and 3.

i’m insanely excited for WWZ and i’m very excited for HANSEL & GRETEL. for fuck’s sake i wish the PA movies would just die and now they’re doing a latino spin off? so it’s “The Ropers” (from 3′s COMPANY to all those too young to remember! lol). :)

WWZ WILL SUCK. LOOK AT IT. COME ON.

I’m not trying to be negative, but none of these look any good.

I am afraid, “Hansel & Gretel” will turn out to be very bad. Which is sad, because we need more horror movies with witchy imaginery. The shot of the witch meeting on the top of the mountain looks promising, but the rest is just ridiculous. And I prefer movies where witches are on the good side.

So excited for Hansel & Gretel. I don’t even know about the PA movies anymore. After the first 2, they started to decline. Hopefully the spin-off and sequel will both be good movies. Not holding my breath, though.

Hansel & Gretel is the only one i want to see out of these movies.
