Jasper Croad is the caretaker at the Grimhaven Orphanage where twelve orphans mysteriously disappeared back in 1897. Understandably, this has had a pretty significant impact on the man’s psyche, as he holds himself responsible for the children’s disappearance. The orphans were taken by the Huntsman, a creature that shares some of the traits of the Slenderman in that he has a mean sense of style and enjoys taking things that don’t belong to him.
Huntsman: The Orphanage is one of the more promising takes on the budding Slenderman subgenre. One of the things I enjoy most about these games is they don’t rely on blood, gore, and violence to be scary. Don’t get me wrong, I love those things too, but it’s nice to get a brief reprieve from all that. Listen to Croad’s story after the break!
There’s some fucking fantastic voice work in that video. Hopefully that’s just a small taste of what the Huntsman will bring with it when it releases later this year. You can help it get greenlit on Steam here.
