Breaking: Milla Jovovich and Paul W.S. Anderson Return For ‘Resident Evil 6’

First Showing broke the news minutes ago that Paul W.S. Anderson is confirmed to direct the currently untitled Resident Evil 6.

They also confirm that Milla Jovovich will return as Alice in the final installment of the new trilogy Anderson began with Resident Evil: Afterlife.

Anderson plans to start shooting Resident Evil 6 this fall. Screen Gems will keep with the fall release pattern and unroll in theaters September 12, 2014.

It’s not all that surprising that the duo are collaborating once again as Anderson left last year’s Resident Evil: Retribution open for a big final that takes place at the White House.

Im a fan of the RE films. The first trilogy was great in my opinion, but this second trilogy has been meh – amazing to look at with great action. I know a lot of you are glad this is “supposedly” the last one, and even as a I fan, Im glad. I just hope they go big and really give a GRAND finale with all the loose ends tied up.

      I could not agree more!

Same thing here. Want explosions, hot women and slo mo- guilty pleasure guaranteed!

doomas10: “Want explosions, hot women and slo mo- guilty pleasure guaranteed!”

Ditto. They had me at Milla.

  • Joe-Banger

Returning for a 6th film? No surprise there! I wonder how bad the next one will be and where the hell in this recession do they keep getting the $ to keep making these shit films!

Oh please no. This is such an awful series. The first was a decent low-budget horror flick and it was just terrible after that. Just let this thing die already so a real director can reboot the series and make it the great story that it should have been originally.

  • Zombie-Killa

    SHOCKING!!! Well, yeah, not really.

RE films continue to decline in quality, but I guess they rake in a good enough profit at the box office, so they’re making another one. Milla as Alice doesn’t bother me, and I usually enjoy her, but the rest of the supporting casts in RE films are usually fucking terrible. The woman, who played Jill Valentine in Retribution was TERRIBLE.

I’m bitching and moaning now, but I’ll probably break down and watch this in theaters next year. Not giving up after five films. lol.

I can not wait til this franchise dies… and hopefully gets a serious reboot from a talented director, Anderson is the definition of ‘hack’.

Needs to be a Horror franchise centered on Zombies NOT an action franchise with Zombies as a background subject.

    Awful franchise.

So if they really end the saga, a slew of cheap DTV- spin-offs about side characters could follow. Sidequels, In-between-quels, prequels etc. And maybe in 5 years we have a “glorious” return to the screen with Milla returning. For proof, see “Universal Soldier”- saga.

i’m a big RE movie fan and have always defended them but RETRIBUTION was an abomination. the only good things from that movie (and i say this being a Milla fan) was Aryana Engineer (ORPHAN) as Becky, Michelle Rodriguez & Kevin Durand. Sienna was absolutely cringe-inducing (notice how bad her stuntwoman’s HORRIBLE WIG is in the “big” showdown at the end! LOL) which sucks because i loved her in APOCALYPSE and Milla was pretty terrible as well.

i never thought i’d say this but i’m glad this particular Anderson/Milla RE franchise is ending. as Zombie-Killa said they’ve been getting worse & worse since Anderson got a hard on for 3D. it pisses me off that he won’t let someone else write these movies. he, like Rob Zombie, suck at writing but are great with visuals.

I actually enjoyed Retribution ! it is my favourite of the series after the classic in my opinion first one. 2 cool sequences: the fight in the corridor had incredible choreography that impressed me and the car chase was awesome. I agree Anderson is great with visuals but his writing is beyond average. Check out MK and Event Horizon – he didn;t write these ones and I personally think that they excel in quality than anything he wrote and directed afterwards. However, the thing that pissed me off in RE:R was the ending – getting back her powers and Wesker in the White House? Wesker was never cool in the films but in the games he is a GOD for me

  • djblack1313

oops i forgot, to all of you saying “no more Milla/Anderson movies”, while i definitely want the reboot we all want, THEY OWE US (RE movie fans who have stuck with them since the first movie) A FINAL PROPER SEND OFF/ENDING!!!!!

so you guys, just bare with this franchise. it’s almost over but as bad as it’s gotten it deserves a proper ending. 🙂

    milla. :]

      Those eyes…. those eyes…
Check out The Messenger some time. Luc Besson fills the screen with Those Eyes… sigh…

i luv the whole RE movies.i know some are different then others, but at least its better then some of the shit they have been releasing at the movies lately!and stop bitching about the movies have to be the same as the games.they have only taken aspects form them and made them into there version of stories.mill and Anderson have put alot of time and effort into making these movies over the years and they don’t need to make them if they don’t want to.if you want to pick on how bad movies are getting pick on shit like…paranormal activity/saw or wrong turn!!!

I love the games and when the news broke of that Resident Evil was going to be filmed I was really excited. But the movies are filled with B movie actors, WS Anderson and this series has nothing in common with the games.

In 2000 George Romero did a script and wanted to do it. I know he has gone downhill a bit but he has more talent in his little toe than WSA has in his entire body.

Hopefully this really is the last.

    • djblack1313

bwtart, again, i hated RETRIBUTION but Romero, as nice/sweet a guy as he is, hasn’t directed a decent film in over 30 years. Anderson is a terrible writer, no question about it, but he’s amazing with visuals. Romero is a horrible writer as well as a horrible director (for the most part).

      • Mr.Mirage

Sputter sputter sputter… ACK! enh – to each their own, frankly I love King George and most of his filmography.
