Mama, Prom, Blood And Telekinesis Fill Out The Full ‘Carrie’ Trailer!!! Plus Over 2 Dozen High-Rez Images!

After a teaser last year (and then a trailer teaser yesterday) MGM and Screen Gems finally have released the full trailer for their Carrie remake. It looks a little heavy on the CG to me, but at least the pace seems brisk. I’m reserving final judgement until I see the film, but I think DePalma is safe on his throne.

In theaters October 18, the Kimberly Peirce-directed redo is “A reimagining of the classic horror tale about Carrie White (Chloë Grace Moretz), a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom.” Alex Russell, Ansel Elgort, Gabriella Wilde, Judy Greer and Portia Doubleday also star.

Head inside to check it out! We’ve also got some fresh stills inside!

  • weresmurf

Looks interesting, but its striking me in the opposite way that Evil Dead did. Whereas ED did everything prosthetically, this seems to have an overreliance on CGI and doesn’t look natural at all? Infact, it’s amazing how much it stands out in comparison…

    • mfcmk1

Funny, I was pretty much thinking the same thing… I’m so sick of CG… it kinda ruins it for me. I love the fact that Evil Dead is all practical effects.

    • Abes

Hmmm, telekinesis is not pretty natural – at all 🙂

      • weresmurf

*rolls eyes* No but the effects can be done naturally, and have been done before to better effect.

        • Abes

Understood, next time I will use more smiles.))

          • mfcmk1

  • NocheBrujo

Juliane Moore looks perfect in the role, about Chloe it happens to look like one of the popular girls and the next minute like an outkast, that’s the weak point for me. The promp scenes promise a blood spree! hope we got a red band trailer.

    • anezka

I hope you are right, but I think it’s not gonna happen. Even in the book people mostly die electrocuted or burnt. They could have changed it though.

    • Kroork

I disagree ! A redband trailer would ruin everything. The only violent part of the movie is the end so why ruin that?

      • Zombie-Killa

“A redband trailer would ruin everything. The only violent part of the movie is the end so why ruin that?”

        Spot on, and agreed 100%.

Keep it green band, PLEASE! lol.

        • WalkWithMeInDarkness

Yes, i agree, leave something to see in the theater. Green band only for this movie!

  • Kenzo

Red Band trailer would be nice.

  • ChasingTheGhost

Looks fantastic but the CG is too much.

  • anezka

For sure it seems to be a very different perspective from DePalma’s. His version was creepy and kind of subtle. This one seems to be more explicit.
I don’t really like CGI, but this one does not look as bad as World War Z, what is a good thing.
After the trailer, I can still hope for the best, because I’ve been really excited for this film since it was announced and, although it does not look exactly what I expected, it might still be good. =)

I Really like it. I Didn’t like the teaser, but this looks cool. But just that… Cool. But whatever, i want to see it!

    • Spike0037

wait didn’t you say you don’t like Chloë Grace Moretz. And I quote ” i think she’s fake. Her
acting in the clip makes carrie sounds like a stupid teenage movie!” just saying.

      • BelaManiac

Well, pretty sure she(?) just said that she “didn’t like the teaser”. She doesn’t say, “Wow, I think Chloe is a great actress because I have now watched this trailer.”

I never agreed with her comment either because I actually really like Chloe in everything I’ve seen her in but people can change their minds. Same with the teaser and the trailer for The Conjuring.

        • Spike0037

@BelaManiac well here what she said when the site posted the thing from entertainment tonight. @ARTPOPIST “I Didn’t like the actress! But lets hope it will be a good movie!” to which I asked her “what is it about her you don’t like.” and she said “I Dont know exactly! But i think she’s fake. Her
acting in the clip makes carrie sounds like a stupid teenage movie!” so my question to her was what made her say hey wait a sec she might be good in this after all. Sorry I didn’t spell it out for everyone. especially you who I didn’t ask.

          • BelaManiac

I know what she said on the other one and clearly this shows more of her ability than a two second clip. Don’t cry, Spike.

          • BelaManiac

And I’m not trying to be a bitch. Just saying

  • evilfairydust

She’s just so pretty. And doesn’t really seem awkward at all. She just looks like a cheerleader in ugly clothes. Although, in the book it does say that when she cleans up for the prom, she really is a pretty girl. So we’ll see, I guess.

  • itsnickkarcher

I’m all for this movie! I can see how she is too pretty to be Carrie but I don’t think Carrie was supposed to be ugly, exactly.

There is a lot of CGI but I don’t mind it all that much. It looks pretty amazing in here. I’m now confident in Chloe. I loved just the little clip we see of her getting real at the prom.

  • Lights-Camera-Reaction

Where do we even begin haha? Somehow looks even worse than expected.

I mean the biggest problem is that they just highlight EVERYTHING that was in the original. The trailer showed the whole movie in the trailer and it looks like a poorly acted carbon copy of the original. I love the original. Julianne Moore looks like she’ll give a decent performance, I can’t say the same for Moretz…

  • xXmissZombie

I gotta say, Chloe is not a bad actress, she is just not right for this role at all. When she speaks, I wish she sounded like Sissy Spacek. She grins when using telekinesis, she’s not supposed to use it on purpose, she is supposed to be legit scared of her power and unable to control it. Chloe is too pretty, she can’t play an outcast. Julianne Moore seems like she could pull off the role of her crazed mother, I will give it that. The prom night scene looks “meh” to me, I will probably not see this, cause any news of this movie just has me disappointed.

    • Josh

Read a book sometime. Carrie spends quite a bit of time purposely practicing her power and strengthening it.

  • BloodyBirthday

Chloe is miscast. The production looks bland, and that damn CGI. Horrible.

  • dr.lamb

Damn, they changed the pig blood to chocolate sauce… Seriously, looks a bit bland to me, despite the superb casting. I love the way Moretz looks when she is asked for prom, it looks like the genuine joy of an awkward person.

    • EvanDickson

Pigs blood is black in the trailer because its all ages green band – it’s red in the movie I think

      • dr.lamb

        Oh. That makes sense.

        • Aaron Emery

Makes sense but I think it would have made more sense to just not show that piece, it’s not like everyone doesn’t know that will happen. If they don’t know then it would make for a good shocker for the youngin’s

          • dr.lamb

It is absolutely hypocritical, yes. So you can show blood as long as it is not red ? I mean kids still get it is supposed to be blood. Show it for real or don’t show it at all. It’s as if you you show a bloodless 5min version of Evil Dead on afternoon TV.

          • WalkWithMeInDarkness

    • Skratchy

Blood turns that color after it sets! It’s actually purple. Not red. Gaaaah!

      • Skratchy

In fact, blood turns red when it oxidizes. So the really bright shitty red you see in movies like the opening of Saw VII is what REAL terrible fake blood looks like. Thank you, morons.

  • Kroork

The movie looks like it could be ok. But the trailer showed ALOT of the movie.
Like I said. It might be ok, but it won’t be no Evil Dead

    • Josh

As if Evil Dead was even that good.

  • Zombie-Killa

Eh, it’s alright, I guess. Nothing in this trailer blows me away, but I’m hoping Moretz does a good job with leading role. Julianne Moore on the other hand….ugh.

  • fmyers1

Honestly, it doesnt look so good… I was looking forward for this, but now… Chloe acting REALLY doesnt look that good… and the CGI is what I was afraid of (and I think I was right, now). Too much CGI.

But, lets see, hope Im wrong.

  • Ultrazilla

Looks good…very different from the other version, which I like. When remaking something, why make it a carbon copy? I’m not sure I’m buying how ostracized Carrie is in this one though, the actress is just too pretty and doesn’t seem awkward enough to be so bullied.

  • Matt-fBR

I really liked. I’m glad that Carrie is given a bit of an personality and she actually stands up for her mother in this version. Kudos to Peirce for not overdoing it in terms of visual style.

The cast also looks solid (the teens actually look like high school kids, except maybe Portia)and it definetly seems more faithful to King’s novel.

I don’t understand the comments about Chloe being too pretty for the role. Carrie was never meant to be ugly in the first place. People make fun of her awkwardness, not her looks.

    • Ultrazilla

Because in the real world, being attractive tends to keep you in with the popular crowd…at least somewhat. Carrie may not have been meant to be ugly, but the “awkwardness” should carry over physically as well. Sissy Spacek had he portrayal down perfectly.

      • Josh

Odd I know plenty of attractive and yet unpopular folks.

Plus you know what keeps you out of the popular crowd? Having a reputation from coming from a religiously fanatic and publicly derided family.

        • WalkWithMeInDarkness

          Exactly! THANK YOU!

  • JardoHorror

The book describes Carrie as being a bit overweight and having pimples. But yes, by the time the prom came around she was supposed to have looked like a natural beauty. Casting fail! An unknown would have been a better choice. Also, Chloe seems to be doing a Sissy Spacek impersonation more than creating her own interpretation of the part.

  • brandroid

I’m like the only person who hates the original BECAUSE I read the novel first. That’s why I’m so anxious for this film. The original compared to the original novel is shit.

  • WalkingDeadGuy

    Grumpy cat: “No.” lol

This didn’t get me excited for the movie one bit. The original is one of my favorites, but I’m always open to remakes, but it looks like they didn’t push the envelope in any way. The over use of CGI is very typical and obnoxious, but what really turns me off is the casting. Now, I was never the biggest fan of Chloe’s, she just always seems to try too hard to convey emotions on her face, it just doesn’t come through in a subtle and natural way. She also doesn’t have the right look for the role, she looks like one of the popular girls, and no amount of raggedy clothes will change that. Julianne Moore, however, is a terrific actress, but I also wasn’t convinced she was the right choice for the mother.

For the role of Margaret White, they really should have gone with a great character actor, someone like Melissa Leo, Amanda Plummer, or Helena Bonham Carter. For the role of Carrie, I could see someone like Jacqueline Emerson, Jodelle Ferland or Saoirse Ronan. I really hope that the finished film proves me wrong, I really want to like it.

    • Hël

Melissa Leo and Saoirse Ronan? Oh God, I’d be over the moon!

    • Josh

Definition of Unsubtle Facial expressions- See Cissy Spacek.

    • lucscs100

Ashley Bell would make an AMAZING Carrie! Seriously, when I watched The Last Exorcism I didn’t even know about the Carrie remake, but I instantly thought of remaking Carrie with her!

    • WalkWithMeInDarkness

Melissa Leo would’ve been fucking awesome.

  • Marty McFly

Looks pretty lame… I’ve been looking forward to this trailer for a while now and I am pretty let down. Let’s hope the movie is better.

  • Aaron Emery

I don’t think it looks too bad, in fact I would say it may be pretty good! The only issues I had were Julianne Moore’s “They’re all gonna laugh at you” (sounded forced, unnatural) and that it looked like people were flying around ‘Chronicle’ style in that gymnasium! No need for that.

  • tangerineeee

geez. i feel like i just watched the whole movie. that two minute trailer is too much.

  • ill_mindedd

wow this looks amazing. i love chloe!!!!!

  • shaneluskie

Although I like Chloë Grace Moretz as an actress (Let me in, Kick Ass etc) I think she may be miscast, she seems to pretty, to physically present for this role. Sissy Spacek was geeky, unattractive and fragile in the original movie which really depended on audience ambivalence regarding her character, did you really feel sorry for her? She was kind a pathetic and trailer park trashy (mainly due to her crazy bible bashing mum). These ambiguous feelings for her are so important for the final scene when she is humiliated in front of her peers at the Prom. You are torn between feeling sorry for her but also laughing at her share wretchedness. When her anger manifests it is all the more shocking, I remember being shocked that Carrie’s PE Teacher, who was her adversary throughout the film, even laughed. I do think Julian Moore will be able to pull off the crazy mum. The original Carrie is a classic, the very final scene at the very end of the movie started a trend that is common to this day in horror movies – the Carrie effect. You’ll know what I mean if you watch the original which was made in ’74. Very original back then. The Exorcist was made the year before…

  • theCr0w

This is just so….ugh… why would they make it modern day set? The story doesn’t fit it almost seems retarded and why Moretz? She is too “cute,” for lack of a better term, to play this role!

  • ThunderDragoon

Looks great. I’ll be seeing this for sure.

  • beedubbs

Chloe is just so beautiful, that idk if she is believable as being bullied. Dakota Fanning wouldve been good for the role. She looks more homely..But Chloe is a great actress and can probably pull it off. Ill have to see the movie..but It looks great. As far as CGI goes, you cant please everyone. The blood looks real. How else were they supposed to get people flying around the room and whole blocks to burn. They werent gonna do that for real..

  • eagleye25

After seeing this, I think I’ll pass.

You can tell the gothic creepiness is gone. Everything’s so spacious and well lit. Sorry Julianne Moore, your performance, even though it looks like you’re giving it all you got, still isn’t gonna carry -(ha) the picture, at least not this time. The original film carried -(on a roll) the atmosphere of the novel to the screen…this seems to of lost that dynamic. Just because weird/even violent things are happening doesn’t make it scary.

I’ll just say what everyone’s dancing around: Mortez is wrong for the role. She’s too “cute” and unscarred for a character like Carrie White. Sorry, but facts is facts. In lighter roles, Mortez can pull it off but it’s so obvious her darkside
    carries -(unavoidable) no depth.

    • Josh

Have you seen Let Me In?

      • GothicGuido

You bring up a good point, she was decent in that but that was another unnecessary remake. The girl in the original was perfect as is…then again I can’t really say that as its in another language. She could have pulled off silly mannerism’s or dialogue delivery and I just don’t know because the language barrier. That’s something I love about foreign films lol they can get away with so much more.

      • QueenofScream666

Agreed with that Josh, “Let Me In” was creepy as all hell and I thought she was amazing in that role…for Carrie, however, I wasn’t digging her interpretation of Carrie…I will be fair and give it a chance as I have only seen the trailer, but if she can do what she did in “Let Me In”…then this could be interesting after all!

  • DarrelDreadful

@loose_cannon actually Carrie’s PE teacher wasnt laughing at her, it only seemed that way in Carrie’s head. That whole climax/ending to the original film was so perfectly done, imo, never gets old every time I watch it.
Now on this remake: Some things caught my attention in the trailer in good and bad ways. Ugh I just dont know about this. Carrie not being that “unattractive” isnt the issue for me at all. Its that Chloe doesnt have that edge, at least not in this trailer, that the Carrie character should have. I like Chloe, and Im sure she gave this performance her all, but I think they should have got an awkward unknown girl for the role with more emotional dept. I can’t wait to read reviews on this.

  • VampireJack

Like many others I believe that Chloe is too pretty for the role for her to be taken seriously as “Carrie”.
    Good actress. WRONG Carrie.

  • Palkotaz

I’m hoping this was just a bad trailer using half finished footage. They showed so much I feel like I’ve probably already seen the whole film, and nothing stood out that made me go “Oh ya this will be as good or better then the original”, but we’ll see. To me the orignal still stands as a great film that probably didn’t need a remake, just a re-release on Blu-Ray with awesome special features.

  • horrorking95

No this isn’t for me. I’m such a huge fan of the original and from what I can tell from this trailer they’ve completely copied it, butchered it and filled it with CGI. Juilianne Moore also really annoys me, and she’s playing the best character! The one Piper Laurie made so memorable! And Chloe just doesn’t have the same aura as Sissy Spacek, she’s not believable in this role. I’ll stick to my original thank you!

  • GerryButton

I saw the trailer for this in front of Evil Dead last night at the midnight showing. My friend Mitch pointed out that the trailer is basically the film. It goes through all the events of the film in order it’s kind of funny. I was never a big fan of the original, so I am not sure about this film.

    • Josh

Except as indicated by the first teaser, this film will actually include the last third of the book, unlike the first film .

  • Alex Brookshire

Now that I’ve seen the trailer, I’m honestly very disappointed. Julianne Moore looks good in the role. My biggest problem is the Chloe Grace Moretz. Now, I think she is a wonderful actress and I was excited when I HEARD she was in this, but now the I’ve SEEN her in this, she is miss cast. She doesn’t look like and outcast. Sissy Spacek looked like an outcast. I’m still gonna see it and I hope that Chloe works well in the movie, but right not, thoroughly disappointed.

  • anthonyd1

So far the best thing about this movie seems to be Julianne Moore. She looks like she nails the role of Carrie’s mom. I am nervous about some of the CG effects and the look of the film is more clean cut. The original had a gritty look to it which added to the movie for me. But I am not going to pass to much judgement before I see the movie. It could still be a fun ride with a crazy last act.

  • lucie-with-a-gun

the film maker cannot create a trailer to intrigue and pique curiosity rather than reveal the entire movie?
i think we all already know the carrie story.

    • anezka

Was there someone who didn’t know Carrie’s story? I think everybody knew it even before the trailer. There are already two previous film versions and the book. The thing in this film is not about the story itself, but how it is going to be told.

  • LHakaLH

the main problem I have with this (as well as the original and the 2002 remake) is that they’re once again gonna make Carrie the shy pretty girl, everyone is mean to for no reason and whom everyone just needs to get to know better. If you’ve read the book you’ll know that in the book the character of Carrie is portrayed as someone so annoyingly awkward, dumb, clueless expression that just looking at her made you wanna pick on her. Neither Spacek, nor Bettis and from the look of this trailer it seems that Moretz will not pull this off either.

    • GothicGuido

Yeah man I wan’t a lead to be a total dunce! A character can still be sympathetic and generally unlikable. It always seems to be “Attractive nerd with a great personality gets picked up by evil jocks” If you’v ever gone to school in the real world you’v known that one weird smelly kid and they don’t have a personality of gold… The kid YOU didn’t pick on but you didn’t befriend them either. I’m not condoning bullying in anyway, I just want a believable character.

  • WalkWithMeInDarkness

Ok, i’m not gonna try and judge performances based on a two minute trailer, but as for the whole “unattractive or not thing” I’ve never read the book and i know people want it to be faithful to the original descriptions, but honestly, it really does not matter what you look like. Just because you might be attractive doesn’t mean that someone won’t bully you. You could be attractive, but maybe you’re short, maybe you’re into things that are deemed weird, maybe you don’t come from a wealthy family. A cruel person will find any reason to bully someone, regardless of looks. I saw plenty of attractive people be bullied for various reasons when I was in high-school. Hell, I was bullied some and I don’t look THAT BAD! And holy shit, this is gonna be a long post. Sorry, friends.

    • BelaManiac

EXACTLY! Well said, Walkwithme. Just because someone is attractive, doesn’t mean anything with other kids (or adults). Jealously is a bitch!

      • WalkWithMeInDarkness

Thank U. Jealousy is indeed a huge bitch.

  • WalkWithMeInDarkness

Oh, and also I will definitely see the movie, I can’t help but love watching shitty people get what they deserve in movies.

    • egaltt23

Yes, that always makes me smile!

      • WalkWithMeInDarkness

Totally. I’m gonna go watch the original right now, just to see those bastards get what they deserve!!!!!!!

        • egaltt23

  • carlos.filipe

Now everybody knows that carrie will snap on the prom night and exactly why and what happens at the end… way to murder the entire movie in 2:30 minutes of trailer, i’ve seeing a trailer of 3 minutes they actualy show long conversations on the goddamed trailer, my god, hollywood IS dead.

  • Josh

Question for everyone that is saying that Moretz is somehow too pretty to play Carrie: In what bullshit dimension was Cissy Spacek unattractive in the 1970’s?

  • xAshleyMariex

I think theres going to be a lot of CGI…
and they should have made Chloe a bit ugly because shes just so pretty, that makes to hard to believe she would get bullied.

  • djblack1313

i must say that this trailer wasn’t bad. i agree w/ those saying Chloe was miscast for this role. i am more encouraged by some of her acting in this full trailer. the sneak peak from a few days ago (with the levitating books & bed) looked silly and Chloe’s acting looked iffy.

there’s no way IMO that either Julianne or Chloe could ever in a million years out do Piper Laurie or Sissy but this could still be a semi-decent remake.

also i’ll miss Pino Donaggio’s BRILLIANT music score. the CARRIE score is among my top 3 movie scores ever (along with Harry Manfredini’s FRIDAY THE 13th score & Carpenter’s THE FOG score).

    • WalkingDeadGuy

I totally agree about the score, it’s one of my favorites too. It’s very dreamlike, haunting, and beautiful. I bought the cd on amazon years back. I even love the original song by Amy Irving’s sister, Katie Irving, that plays during the dance at the prom.

  • GothicGuido

Well I liked the song! I wish it went along to another trailer tho. Like many other’s have said I think think she’s a miscast, yes attractive people can be weird blah blah. Problem is her acting dose’t really convince me shes awkward either. Their trying to make her relateable… seems to be honing in on the “nerds are cool” thing (desirable nerd/outcast. Also(getting really particular here ahah) The facial expression at 0:35 made me cringe (I’m soo confuwsed and fwustwated!) She seems like shes trying to hard to be cute instead of just being a total dunce. Now that I think of it Carrie probably smelt bad… I don’t buy Chloes smels bad ahahahah

  • WalkWithMeInDarkness

Oh yes, Lykke Li covering “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?” Very Haunting indeed.

  • egaltt23

You people are crazy to judge this extreme by just a trailer. The Last Exorcism 1 trailer looked amazing, but the movie was awful. Plus, this movie is a REMAKE not a redo.

  • Justen

This looks really bad, not gonna lie. I can’t see Chloe doing this role. Julianne Moore, sure – she’s a gem. But no one can replace Sissy Spacek. There’s way too much CGI in this, and it’s absolutely unnecessary. It actually reminds me of a Lifetime movie. Even the acting is a little concerning and I don’t like how high school is depicted in that cliché, unrealistic way…much like a Lifetime movie. I’ll still see it though, just because I wanna see what the prom scene will be like compared to the original.

    • The-Hitchhiking-Ghost

      100% agree. Well said.

Well, I’ve always been a huge fan of Stephen King and his work. I adore the novel! I also Adore the original film that was close but not quite like the novel. They explain that in the commentary of budget reason. That can be understood. The sequel was good but more or less a rip of the same plot. It only worked for me because the returning character/actress of Sue was involved. This actually has got me excited!! I can already see small traces of parts from the book so I bet it’s going to be spot on! 🙂 I can’t wait!

Also to add, the made for TV was good but watered down of course. But it was the right step in the correct DIRECTION! 😛

  • porcupinetheater

I think the design of the Jesus statue in this is much more traditional, and thus much less creepy. The scene towards the end of the original when the house if burning down, and the camera zoomed in on the statue, staring out with its haunting, dead eyes…sent chills down my spine. I somehow doubt this one is going to accomplish the same.

  • The-Hitchhiking-Ghost

Moretz is terrible and terribly miscast. The CGI in the trailer is an instant turn-off as is the fact that the whole movie is in this trailer. What more is there to add?

  • but-sir-the-piranha

Jesus, can this trailer leave any of the movie out? I feel like I saw all the “look forward to” parts in 2 minutes.

    • QueenofScream666

I agree, but then again…since it is a remake, it will pretty much be the same movie, just different characters. There’s really no way they could possibly remake this movie only to enhance special FX. I am really not digging it thus far, but as a diehard horror freak, I will be there to see it just to report it for it’s fair rating.

  • QueenofScream666

In all honesty, I am a little too excited to see this, but not for all the hype it will most likely get. I am excited for this remake only because I want to see how badly they will fuck it up. This film has been done twice now and the t.v. version sucked worse than a blowjob performed at the bottom of the school bleachers. I’ll be fair, I did give the same expectation for “Evil Dead”…but because of the gore factor for that film, it made up for what it lacked. Hopefully they will do this one justice as well-AND as a huge fan of Julianne Moore, I believe she will make a great adaptation of Carrie’s mother.

  • QueenofScream666

I want to add one last thing…just because I am of the female prototype. I couldn’t help but noticed Carrie’s ensemble…AKA: her prom dress…You would think that since this is a remake and they are trying to give the overall sense of “Carrie” a makeover…you would think that they would WOW us…well, mainly females, by making her dress a little more impressive? I am sorry…I know the dress has been the same and couldn’t help but notice…but please, make it a dress where it will seem genuine when people compliment her at the prom. It can still be pink, but more “couture-like”? Anyone feel me on this?
