Los Angeles readers get your calendars out and free up Thursday, August 8 for a must-attend horror event!
The first-ever NEXT WEEKEND film festival will kick off with an outdoor screening of Chris Smith’s iconic cult documentary American Movie and Mark Borchardt’s horror film Coven at Cinespia at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery (6000 Santa Monica Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90038) Thursday, August 8 (Doors open at 7:00 p.m.; Screening begins at 8:30 p.m.).
In an extremely rare treat, Mark Borchardt will introduce Coven, and Chris Smith will introduce American Movie. Sundance Institute Members will have priority admittance via a members-only line for this event at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. This screening is co-presented with Acura.
NEXT WEEKEND, Presented by Sundance Institute will present four days of screenings, parties and artist programs that celebrate the renegade spirit of independent filmmaking. The event is an extension of the popular NEXT <=> section at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, which showcases stylistically adventurous films that take a bold approach to storytelling.
