If you haven’t yet decided on whether or not you’re going to pre-order Techland’s open-world zombie bash-em-across-the-face-and-run-away game, Dying Light, this might change your mind.
Everyone who pre-orders the game will get access to an exclusive “Be the Zombie” mode, a player vs. player mode that lets you play as a night hunter, a powerful and rare mutation that comes armed with a unique array of skills — as well as its own skill tree — superhuman speed and a grapple tendril so you can really fly through the game world. This will be the only way to get this mode at launch. Check out the night hunter in all his tendril glory and a fresh batch of screenshots after the jump.
I’m a little disappointed they didn’t try incorporating this “Be the Zombie” mode into the game in the style of Dark Souls (or Resident Evil 6), where you can join another player’s world as an enemy, rather than as a separate game mode. It still sounds fun, but it could have been used in a much cooler way, I think.
Dying Light wall-runs onto the PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 in 2014.
