Latefox Pictures will be slamming into production with The Demolisher, scheduled to begin shooting late Spring 2014. Directed by Gabriel Carrer, The Demolisher chronicles the story of a man named Bruce (Ry Barrett), an ordinary repairman tormented by a crippling sense of responsibility for his disabled wife Samantha (Tianna Nori), a former policewoman and survivor of a gang-related assault. Bruce’s increasing hyper-sensitivity to the injustice suffered by his wife steers him down a dark path of vigilantism. His rapidly disintegrating mental health, paranoia and overwhelming sense of condemnation, Bruce channels his inner-rage, punishing young woman, Marie (Jessica Vano), and finding refuge in a world of intense violence.
The Demolisher is both a character study, and a psychological examination of trauma, resulting in an unapologetic portrayal of what can happen when a fragile mind is pushed too far. “The film is complex and character-driven, dealing with an outpouring of raw emotion,” said Gabriel Carrer, the film’s director and producer. “It delicately juggles our sympathetic nature and reactions to chance encounters, with the dangerous and addicted intoxication of violence, The film’s narrative pertains to the film industry, or any industry for that matter, and the level of abuse that can be endured” he concludes.
Latefox Pictures’ The Demolisher stars Ry Barrett, who most recently played lead villain in Chad Archibald’s upcoming, The Drownsman; Tianna Nori, leading danger in Tricia Lee’s, Clean Break, and Jessica Vano, the tortured heroine in the upcoming, The Unabomber Manifesto.
Award-winning cinematographer, Martin Buzora (Neverlost), who just completed the Oprah Winfrey Network series, To Catch a Killer, will capture the film’s fresh hyper-visual aesthetic and Gabriel Carrer will direct, a follow up role to last year’s acclaimed psychological thriller, In the House of Flies featuring Henry Rollins as the voice. The Demolisher is produced by Gabriel Carrer, Ry Barrett, AK Lamm, Andrew Bussey, Duane Frey, Christian Burgess, Martin Buzora, Nathan Hawkins and Andrew Wood.
