Despite an immensely promising concept and a general need for more horror games that try to make aliens scary again, the crowdfunding campaign for The Hum will soon be cancelled by its developer, Ariel Arias. The decision was made after the campaign failed to gain enough traction to come anywhere close to its ambitious $250,000 (NZD) goal. At the time of this writing, it’s raised a little over $10,000. It’s disappointing seeing a game like this fail to find the audience it deserves, but despite this setback, Arias is still hopeful about the project’s future.
I will keep working on all this as I’ve been doing it for almost all my life,” Arias wrote in a post on the game’s Kickstarter page. “I really want to bring my ideas and all The Hum Universe to you in the better way, so I’m putting a lot of effort on it.”
I hope The Hum is given the chance to be fully realized, because we’re in desperate need a good alien horror game.
