Sega Details First Expansion for ‘Alien: Isolation’

Sega has offered up some new details on the first of five planned story expansions for developer Creative Assembly’s thoroughly terrifying survival horror game, Alien: Isolation. The first bit of DLC is called Corporate Lockdown and will follow Seegson executive Ransome as he tries to escape to the Torrens with valuable Nostromo data. The DLC will bring with it three new challenge maps — Severance, Scorched Earth and Loose Ends — where you can show off your sweet survival skills with the help of online leaderboards.

Corporate Lockdown will be available October 28 for $7.99 (€6.99 / £5.59) and will be followed up by four more packs that will each follow a different playable character and unique objectives, maps and game modes.

If you haven’t grabbed Alien: Isolation yet, I suggest you get on that. In my review, I called it “hugely successful” in its attempt to build a survival horror game around one of the most influential films of all time. You don’t even need to be an Alien fan to enjoy this.

From all the places I am reading about this – I am still totally unclear: Is there a first player story campaign mission in these DLC’s – or are they just challenge maps where you find info that will contribute to the story? I keep reading about online leader boards which I don’t care about – I just want more campaign to play….

I think all of the DLC packs have their own mini campaigns in them which all lead up to the main game.

Not gonna lie. I was kind of hoping one of the DLC’s (or maybe a few) would have us play in the worlds from the other films. Hadley’s Hope, Sulaco, Fury 161, Auriga…perhaps even one that tied with Prometheus. Not that I wanted the game mechanics to change into a shooter like all the previous Alien games but Creative Assembly threw so much detail into Sevastapol that I’d love to see them do the same with other familiar locations from the movies.

It’d be really nice if they’d fix all the bugs before they focused on expanding the game. Taking away the alien’s ability to teleport to the front of the locker after he’s left the room would be a fantastic start.

I have yet to have that happen

  • Derek Weirather

Well here’s an awesome idea… Play as Newt for one of the DLC campaigns.

      or Jones? lol

      • Brodequin

        Meow 🙂

I might try out the first one and will get the rest when I move onto either PS4 or Xbox One.

3/4 of the way through the game and I can honestly say this game is slow, dated, and annoying. I’m glad you like it though.
