‘The Crow’ Seeking New Eric Draven, Again?

The Crow

It was announced just yesterday that Corin Hardy will be directing the latest adaptation of James O’Barr’s The Crow, making him the third director attached in the past few years.

Now, it looks as if the reboot needs to find a new star, again.

While Dracula Untold‘s Luke Evans was to play Eric Draven, it now sounds as if Relativity will need to start yet another search.

“It’s not [progressing], no,” Evans told Den of Geek. “No, at the minute The Crow is not, not for me, I think it’s a little… I mean I’m sure it’s going to go ahead at some point, but I have other projects that are greenlit and ready to go and projects that I’m very interested in and you know, I can’t wait much longer!”

Evans exiting the adaptation would mean he’ll be joining the likes of Mark Wahlberg and even Bradley Cooper, who were both at one point attached. Tom Hiddleston still would have been the best choice (go see Only Lovers Left Alive).

“The Crow” is about a murdered man who comes back for revenge, which was first brought to the screen by director Alex Proyas and the late actor Brandon Lee.

Sleepy Hollow movie

Paramount is heading to Sleepy Hollow with a brand new feature film take on the classic Headless Horseman tale, with Lindsey Anderson Beer (Pet Sematary: Bloodlines) announced to direct the movie back in 2022. But is that project still happening, now two years later?

The Hollywood Reporter lets us know this afternoon that Paramount Pictures has renewed its first-look deal with Lindsey Anderson Beer, and one of the projects on the upcoming slate is the aforementioned Sleepy Hollow movie that was originally announced two years ago.

THR details, “Additional projects on the development slate include… Sleepy Hollow with Anderson Beer attached to write, direct, and produce alongside Todd Garner of Broken Road.”

You can learn more about the slate over on The Hollywood Reporter. It also includes a supernatural thriller titled Here Comes the Dark from the writers of Don’t Worry Darling.

The origin of all things Sleepy Hollow is of course Washington Irving’s story “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” which was first published in 1819. Tim Burton adapted the tale for the big screen in 1999, that film starring Johnny Depp as main character Ichabod Crane.

More recently, the FOX series “Sleepy Hollow” was also based on Washington Irving’s tale of Crane and the Headless Horseman. The series lasted four seasons, cancelled in 2017.
