‘Paranormal’ Directors’ ‘Nerve’ Retitled to ‘Presto’; Emma Roberts Starring With Dave Franco?
Production Weekly is reporting that Lionsgate is just two weeks out from principal photography on Presto (originally titled Nerve).
As previously reported, Henry Joost and Ariel Shulman, the directing team that broke through with the Sundance hit Catfish and Paramount’s Paranormal Activity 3, is helping the young adult thriller based on Jeanne Ryan’
“The novel tells of a high school senior wallflower who, in an attempt to broaden her horizons, joins a global online game of provocative truth or dare while an audience of “watchers” vote and comment. But as she becomes a sensation and advances higher and higher, the game evolves and soon she finds herself in a dangerous and life-ending situation.”
IMDB says that “American Horror Story”, “Scream Queens” and Scream 4‘s Emma Roberts stars with Dave Franco (Warm Bodies, Fright Night) and Brian ‘Sene’ Marc.
It is being produced by Allison Shearmur.
Jessica Sharzer, a writer and exec producer on “American Horror Story,” wrote the adaptation.
Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) is staying busy here in 2024, directing not only the werewolf movie Big Bad but also an upcoming thriller titled Drop.
The project for Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes is being described as a “fast-paced thriller,” and Deadline reports today that Violett Beane (Truth or Dare) has joined the cast.
Newcomer Jacob Robinson has also signed on to star in the mysterious thriller. Previously announced, Meghann Fahy (“White Lotus”) will be leading the cast.
Landon recently teased on Twitter, “This is my love letter to DePalma.”
Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach wrote the script.
Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller and Cameron Fuller — “who brought the script in to Platinum Dunes” — are producing the upcoming Drop. Sam Lerner is an executive producer.
THR notes, “The film is a Platinum Dunes and Blumhouse production for Universal.”
