“Ash vs Evil Dead”: First Image Reveals Ash, His Chainsaw, and New Sidekicks!

Starz just released the first ever official still from “Ash vs Evil Dead,” which celebrates the return of Bruce Campbell as Ash, the hero from Sam Raimi’s The Evil Dead franchise.

The image shows Ash with his infamous chainsaw, locked in where his had was lopped off. The real kicker is the name tag on the girl’s vest, which looks very much like something we’d see in S-Mart. In fact, it’s revealed that Ash is still a stock boy, only this time at Value Stop. His new sidekicks are employees Pablo (Ray Santiago) and Kelly (Dana Delorenzo).

[Ash is] the guy who yet again is accidently responsible for unleashing the evil dead back upon the world. “He’s the only one stupid enough to really tamper with those spirits,” Sam Raimi, who directed the first episode of the new series, tells EW. “And he does. But he’s also still a really good monster fighter. So, he’s also going to be kicking some deadite buttocks, if you’ll pardon the French.”

“It’s The Searchers with carnage and mayhem,” adds Campbell of the newest chapter in the Evil Dead saga. “I’m relegated a little bit into the John Wayne mode these days with my team—the young, virile, evil fighters who will pair up with Ash and take on this nemesis: this never ending, ever evolving nemesis.”

In the 10-episode “Ash vs Evil Dead” series premiering this fall, Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip.”

“Ash vs Evil Dead” (see who’s directing here) is the long-awaited follow-up to the classic horror film franchise The Evil Dead and is set to premiere on STARZ in fall 2015.

One of Clive Barker’s Final Convention Appearances Will Be at New Jersey’s Monster Mania in August

Clive Barker

We told you earlier this month that horror legend Clive Barker is leaving the convention scene behind to focus entirely on his writing, with various upcoming projects in the works.

A series of final appearances from Barker will begin at Days of the Dead Chicago this month, and we’ve learned Barker will also be coming to Monster Mania in New Jersey.

Clive Barker will be signing at Monster Mania 59 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, which runs from August 2 – August 4, 2024. Stay tuned for more info from the convention.

Barker’s official statement earlier this month explained, “… it’s time to focus entirely on writing. I’m not stopping public events because I’ve lost delight in meeting you all over the years. I’m as passionate as ever about sharing my imagination with readers and moviegoers around the world. In the very room where I’m writing these words, I have the manuscripts for a very large number of projects (Thirty-one of them), some very close to completion, others still telling themselves. There are some wild projects in this collection of works, whether close to finished or done. There are also stories that you all knew I would be finishing.”

“Abarat IV and V are amongst the books at my feet,” he continued. “So is the Third and final book of The Art and the sequel to The Thief of Always. There are also return visits to characters and mythologies you may have thought I would never return to.

“I hope I am still able to surprise you in the decades ahead.”
