When Dino Crisis 2 turned the big 1-5 last September, I asked the Powers That Be to exhume the series from its twelve-year hiatus.
It took a considerable amount of petitioning from the community over a long damn time before Capcom came around on the Resident Evil 2 remake. I suspect any chance we might have at a Dino Crisis revival will be about as challenging, and that’s why it’s nice to see a similar sentiment come from Monster Hunter Online Tao Weishi producer, who specifically mentioned Dino Crisis as a game he’d like to work on in a recent interview.
That could mean just about anything, but the mission right now is to remind Capcom there’s an audience out there for a horror game about carnivorous dinosaurs turning us into people-shaped snack foods, and that’s progress.
It’s also just one of about a half dozen properties Weishi name-dropped, along with Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Devil May Cry, Onimusha and Sengoku Basara.
Come on, Capcom. I believe in you.
