The Horrors of Netflix and Hulu: March 2016

Published

on

March is upon us, which also means so is spring!

But before it gets warms enough to enjoy the outdoors, there could be another snowstorm or two just around the corner.

Here’s a list of the horror films that will be added to both Netflix and Hulu streaming services next month, with Hulu really stepping up their game.

NETFLIX

On March 5th you can watch Freestyle Digital Media’s star-studded animated comedy Hell and Back (review) from directors Tom Gianas and Ross Shuman. Captured in high quality stop-motion, Hell and Back follows two best friends who must rescue their friend after he’s accidentally dragged to hell. While there’s a lot to dislike about this film, at times it’s actually pretty funny and entertaining.

In the vein of South Park and Team America, Hell & Back is an irreverent R-rated comedy which stars Mila Kunis (Black Swan, Ted), Danny McBride (This Is the End), T.J. Miller (Cloverfield), Bob Odenkirk (“Breaking Bad”), Susan Sarandon (Dead Man Walking), Jennifer Coolidge (American pie), Rob Riggle (21 Jump Street, The Hangover) and) directed by Tom Gianas (“SNL”) and Ross Shuman (“Robot Chicken”), produced by Corey Campodonico (“Robot Chicken”), Alexander Bulkey (“Robot Chicken”) and Eric Blyler (“Robot Chicken”).

On March 15h Wes Bentley trains a young Abigail Bresli for revenge in Final Girl (read our review).

“Breslin plays Veronica, the new girl in school. She’s shy and vulnerable, the perfect target for a group of teenage boys who lure girls into the woods to hunt and kill them for sport. It’s only after they get her alone that she turns the tables on them, escaping and revealing she’s armed and knows how to defend herself… Little do they know, Veronica is an assassin-in-training, and she’s chosen killing these boys as her final test. When the dust clears, Veronica will find out if she can be the final girl these boys ever have a chance to hurt.”

Henry Rollins lives eternal in He Never Died (review), streaming March 18th. “Cursed with immortality and a hunger for human flesh, Jack lives a cloistered life, feeding his appetite by purchasing blood from a hospital intern. But Jack’s life is upended when some gangland thugs and his long-lost daughter enter the picture.”

On the same day Marvels second season of “Daredevil” premieres. In the series, blinded as a young boy, Matt Murdock fights injustice by day as a lawyer and by night as the Super Hero Daredevil in Hell’s Kitchen, New York City.

The Ouija Experiment 2: Theatre of Death will be available on March 22nd. In the direct-to-VOD title, “A group of unsuspecting theatre goers are trapped, after a ravenous spirit is resurrected and released from a Ouija board.”

Lastly, the 2013 direct-to-VOD sequel Fright Night 2 lands on March 31st. “Studying abroad in Romania, high schoolers Charley and Ed must stop a sexy vampire’s chilling plan to bathe in the blood of a “new moon virgin” — who happens to be Charley’s ex-girlfriend. The guys enlist the help of a vampire-hunting TV show host.”

“Dexter” star Jaime Murray plays the film’s new lead vampire. Chris Waller, Sean Power, Will Payne, Sean Power, Sacha Parkinson, John-Christian Bateman, Liana Margineanu, Alina Minzu, Adi Hostiuc, and Joelle Coutinho also star.
