Whether or not you liked the Cabin Fever remake, you have to admit that director Travis Zariwny (Travis Z) does have an interesting craft. It would be nice to see what he could do with his own project, instead of doing a near scene-for-scene remake of Eli Roth’s movie.
TheWrap is reporting that Travis Z is going to next helm The Midnight Man, which reunites him with Cabin Fever producers Cassian Elwes and Frankie Lindquist.
Horror icons Robert Englund (A Nightmare On Elm Street) and Lin Shaye (Insidious) are set to star in the indie horror-thriller with production is currently under way in Winnipeg.
“The story follows a girl and her friends who play a game that summons a creature known as The Midnight Man who uses their worst fears against them.”
The Midnight Man is based on the old Pagan ritual “The Midnight Game,” though it doubles as an American remake of Rob Kennedy’s low-budget 2013 feature that was made in Ireland.
The film also stars Gabrielle Haugh, Grayson Gabriel, Summer Howell, Keenan Lehmann, Meredith Rose, Michael Sirow and Kyle Strauts, the latter of whom plays the title character.
Frankie Lindquist will produce under her new label Scooty Woop Elite along with Cassian Elwes of Elevated Films (Knock Knock). Executive producers are Phyllis Laing, Robert Barnum, Dave Hansen and Devan Towers.
