Bloody Disgusting is pleased to announce the U.S. acquisition of John Geddes’ post-apocalyptic Exit Humanity for DVD and VOD release as part of its Bloody Disgusting Selects film series.

It portrays a young man’s struggle to survive in the aftermath of an undead outbreak during the American Civil War. Heavily inspired by classic films such as Jeremiah Johnson and The Outlaw Josey Wales, Exit Humanity is a poetic tale told through the journal entries of its protagonist Edward Young.

The Canadian feature blends live-action and animation to explore deeper themes of fear, hope, redemption, and evil.

Starring horror icons Bill Moseley (Devil’s Rejects, House of 1000 Corpses), Dee Wallace (E.T., Cujo), Stephen McHattie (Pontypool, The Watchmen, 300), and new horror hero Mark Gibson, Exit Humanity is a zombie saga that tells the tale of the ultimate battle of good vs. evil. [BD Selects] Rammbock Takes German Top Editing Award!

Some pretty exciting news here on BD as Silke Olthoff took top honors at this year’s Schnitt Awards for her editing of Marvin Kren’s Berlin zombie movie Rammbock: Berlin Undead, the Bloody Disgusting Selects flick that’s now available on DVD and VOD.

The jury, which included last year’s Schnitt winner Monika Willi (The White Ribbon), praised Olthoff’s successful splicing of the horror and romance genres. “The zombie invasion is terrifyingly believable while the love story truly touching,” the jury said in a statement. “Both strands hold and build tension until the (film’s) finale.” READ MORE

Godsmack drummer Shannon Larkin has written up another awesome movie review. This time, he tackles Bloody-Disgusting Selects Atrocious, which will be in theaters August 17th – 26th. The Spanish found footage horror film details the last five days of Cristian Quintanilla and his siblings and the unnatural circumstances they encountered.

Godsmack just finished co-headlining the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival and has several more tour dates lined up for the rest of summer and the beginning of fall.

Take note: Starting Wednesday May 4th, AMC theaters across the country will be showing Bloody Disgusting Selects films every Wednesday and Friday, with a new film dropping into the mix every month.

The first flick arriving in theaters is Marvin Kren’s German zombie film Rammbock, which will be preluded with an exclusive short film. Full event plans forthcoming, along with ticket links. Again, the movie will be playing every Wednesday and Friday night for the month of May, starting on the 4th. I guess you can say those will be known as BD nights? Grab some Taco Bell first…

In Rammbock: “Just when Michael arrives in Berlin to visit his ex-girlfriend Gabi, a terrible virus starts spreading across the city at a rapid pace, turning people into mindless homicidal maniacs. Much to Michael’s concern, Gabi’s not home; instead, he meets Harper, a teenage plumber’s apprentice at work in her apartment block. I don’t know about you guys, but I get pretty frustrated when I can’t see a horror movie that’s already getting rave reviews out of Japan, Germany, Europe, and even right here in the States.

There’s nothing more aggravating than hearing behind-the-scenes “acquisition” drama about great films like Inside, Frontier(s), Mandy Lane, The Poughkeepsie Tapes, among many others. The fact of the matter is, most distribution companies HATE foreign films and feel that you guys don’t want to see them. That’s why REC was just dumped onto DVD without even a chance for you to see it in theaters (an atrocity from my perspective).

With the rise of “digital entertainment,” thanks to VOD, horror may have found a new life. Over the course of the next decade I expect an overflow of genre films, so much so that you’re head is going to spin.

After 10 years of reporting on other people’s films, we’re excited to announce our jump into the distro world, an exciting place where we’ve finally been given the opportunity to be the dudes who bring you quality (this is very important to us) horror from across the globe – films we personally love and think you will too.

So with that we’re proud to introduce BLOODY DISGUSTING SELECTS, a new genre label that will bring you “quality” worldwide genre cinema via theaters, VOD, online, DVD and even television.

Inside you’ll find the official press release announcing the first 3 films, but before you make a move I want to make one thing very clear: we consider Bloody Disgusting a community. For a decade now our focus has always been about giving you dear horror fans a VOICE, an uncensored opinion on news, reviews and much, much more. This will continue to be the way, the only way; this will and always will be our main focus. We’re going to let you guys make or break the films.
