[Video Interview] Lou Taylor Pucci, Shiloh Fernandez And Jessica Lucas Bound By Blood In ‘Evil Dead’

The new Evil Dead hits theaters this Friday, April 5th (or 10 PM tonight), but you already know my thoughts on it. If you’re a horror fan, it’s something you don’t want to miss. It hits a few bumps in the beginning – but once it gets going the film just flies along and it’s a gory, glorious blast (my review here)! Last weekend I sat down with stars Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci and Jessica Lucas to talk about the physical rigors of the shoot – as well as Pucci’s innate fandom of the series. We also out one of the actors as having never seen the original film. Also, if you missed my chat with Jane Levy and Fede Alvarez, it’s right here.

In the film, “In the much anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, five twenty-something friends who become holed up in a remote cabin where they discover a Book Of The Dead. An archaeologist’s tape recording reveals that the ancient text was discovered among the Khandarian ruins of a Sumerian civilization. Playing the taped incantations, the youths unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.” Jane Levy and Elizabeth Blackmore also star.

[Video Interview] Abigail Breslin On Being Stuffed In A Trunk And Making ‘The Call’!

Out today March 15th is WWE’s The Call (formerly The Hive), which is being released by TriStar. Last week I spent a few minutes with Abigail Breslin (Zombieland, Haunter) and we talked about the rigors of playing the kidnapping victim of Michael Eklund’s deranged serial killer. Even worse, she has to do 80% of that from the trunk of a car – that’s a rough 3 or so weeks!

In the film, “When veteran 911 operator, Jordan (Halle Berry), takes a life-altering call from a teenage girl (Abigail Breslin) who has just been abducted, she realizes that she must confront a killer from her past in order to save the girl’s life.” I also recently spent some time on set and you can read that report right here. Halle Berry, Justina Machado, Tara Platt, Evie Thompson, David Otunga, Michael Linstroth, Michael Eklund and Morris Chestnut also star in the film directed by genre vet Brad Anderson (Session 9).

The Call is now rated “R.” Head inside for the interview! READ MORE

Beware Of Isopods In This Exclusive Clip From ‘The Bay’!

Roadside Attractions has shared with us a new and exclusive clip from Barry Levinson’s eco-horror The Bay. The found-footage horror was originally to be released via Lionsgate, but will now hit theaters November 2 from Roadside.

The clip involves some nasty tongue-eating isopods, which are actually real! They eat a creature’s (fish, whales even) tongue and sit there in place of it absorbing all of the incoming food. More on that here!

Starring Will Rogers, Steven Kunken, Kether Donohue, Frank Deal, Christopher Denham and Kristin Connelly, “Two million fish washed ashore. One thousand blackbirds dropped from the sky. On July 4, 2009 a deadly menace swept through the quaint seaside town of Claridge, Maryland, but the harrowing story of what happened that Independence Day has never been told–until now. From Oscar(R)-winning director Barry Levinson and the producers of Paranormal Activity and Insidious comes this nerve-shredding tale of a small town plunged into absolute terror. The authorities believed they had buried the truth about the tragedy that claimed over 700 human lives. Now, three years later, a reporter has emerged with footage revealing the cover-up and an unimaginable killer: a mysterious parasitic outbreak. Told from the perspective of those who were there and saw what happened, The Bay unfolds over 24 hours though people’s iPhones, Androids, 911 calls, webcams, and whatever else could be used to document the nightmare in Claridge.

With Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines, director and writer Declan O’Brien (Wrong Turn 3: Left For Dead, Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings, Sharktopus) returns to helm of his third film in the franchise, with Doug Bradley (best known for his role of “Pinhead” in the Hellraiser films) in a pivotal role. Camilla Arfwedson, Roxanne McKee, Simon Ginty, Oliver Hoare, Amy Lennox, Duncan Wisbey, Kyle Redmond-Jones, Peter Brooke, Emilia Klayn, Rosie Holden and Andrew Bone round out the cast.

First Clip From ‘Frankenweenie’ Looks Gorgeous!

Walt Disney Pictures has released the first clip from Frankenweenie, Tim Burton’s latest animated feature in which a young Victor conducts a science experiment to bring his beloved dog Sparky back to life, only to face unintended, sometimes monstrous, consequences.

The clip looks amazing and the stop motion is gorgeous but the jury’s still out on Burton’s main weakness as of late – storytelling. Here’s hoping!

The voice cast includes four actors who worked with Burton on previous films: Winona Ryder (Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands), Catherine O’Hara (Beetlejuice, The Nightmare Before Christmas), Martin Short (Mars Attacks!) and Martin Landau (Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow), while Charlie Tahan and Atticus Shaffer were later added.
