['Evil Dead' Month] Members Of The Black Dahlia Murder, Paradise Lost, Napalm Death, And More Talk The ‘Evil Dead’ Films

The new Evil Dead film will be coming out next Friday and it seems like the entire horror fanbase is on pins and needles awaiting its release. To be honest, I don’t think I’ve seen such hype for a horror release since I began here at Bloody-Disgusting back in late 2009. From the look of it, it’s a film that not only respects the horror fanbase but is a film made for us. Still, having not seen the film, I can only wait with you and hope for the best.

This excitement and fervor has swept into the music world and members of some of the most extreme and intense bands out there want to share their thoughts on the original films and the upcoming remake. Head on below for thoughts from members of Paradise Lost, The Black Dahlia Murder, Monuments, Tech N9ne, Bonded By Blood, Palisades, Broken Hope, and a whole slew more! READ MORE

Broken Hope Issue Update On First New Album In 13 Years

Chicago death metal band Broken Hope has issued an update regarding their new album, which is their first release since 1999′s Grotesque Blessing. The band signed with Hard Impact Management earlier this year and states they will be committed to writing and touring, including being currently booked for the 2013 editions of Extremefest (Germany) and Maryland Death Fest.

The band issued the following official statement:
We want to give you all a quick Broken Hope update before the New Year, and we have some exciting news! First, congratulations to Broken Hope’s own Shaun Glass on the birth of his first child: Maddux Burton Glass, born Dec 17, 2012. Maddux enters the world just before Christmas and just as Broken Hope is writing the new album!

Speaking of the new album, we can officially say that we’ve written 11 songs so far– and are still trucking along with more material. The new material is so ferocious, we jokingly sum up the vibe of the new music as ‘Reign In Bowels’ because it’s like someone took Slayer’s ‘Reign In Blood’ and mated that intensity and horror with the extremity and sickness of Broken Hope’s ‘Bowels of Repugnance’ album…It’s insanely heavy and unrelenting! That said, here’s a couple song titles we can release to you all– chew on these: ‘The Flesh Mechanic’ and ‘Give Me the Bottom Half.’ We can’t wait for you to hear ‘em all! Happy Holidays everyone!READ MORE

Teaser Trailer for the ‘The Armageddon Chord’ Novel

Bloody-Disgusting has scored the exclusive teaser trailer for musician/horror author Jeremy Wagner’s upcoming book, The Armageddon Chord! The book is slated to come out August 22nd via kRP Publishing. Check out this exclusive sneak peek after the jump.

Deep beneath the Egyptian sands, an ancient and evil song written in hieroglyphics is discovered in the long lost and buried pyramid of the demonic pharaoh, Aknaseth. It is written, that if this song is performed for the world to hear, it will unleash the Apocalypse upon the world of man Satan will reign and grant immortality to the chosen. With the help of abominable Egyptologist, Helmut Hartkopff, nihilistic multibillionaire, Festus Baustone the Third will do whatever it takes to bring the song to life at any cost- even if his only daughter is to be sacrificed. Kirk Vaisto, dubbed the God of Guitar by his millions of fans, soon finds himself caught between the forces of divine good and monumental evil. Vaisto begins a musical journey that takes him from an unholy chapter in ancient Egyptian history to the very remains of the Holy Cross, to the concert stage, and beyond all this, to the very edge of Hell itself. Will Kirk give the performance of a lifetime and either deliver our world from evil or will he annihilate us all with the stroke of his hand? What will happen when Kirk Vasito strikes The Armageddon Chord?

Jeremy Wagner is a published horror writer with stories in ‘Fangbangers: An Erotic Anthology of Fangs, Claws, Sex and Love’, and ‘Hungry For Your Love’. Robb Flynn (Machine Head) Covers Black Sabbath In Tribute To Debbie Abono

MACHINE HEAD frontman Robb Flynn has recorded audio and video of an acoustic cover of BLACK SABBATH’s “Die Young” song from the classic “Heaven and Hell” album for free download in tribute to the late Debbie Abono, who sadly passed away on the same day as legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio.  In a statement made at the beginning of the video (which was recorded the day after Debbie’s passing and which can be viewed at this location), Robb says, “I don’t know why I recorded this song, it doesn’t really have relevance to Debbie or Dio, but I was sad and depressed and it was the only thing that made sense in the world.”

There are no plans to officially release Flynn’s version of “Die Young”, but an MP3 version of the track is available for free download HERE.

Debbie Abono, a well-respected and much-loved manager and promotional machine behind some of San Francisco Bay Area’s strongest metal bands (POSSESSED, FORBIDDEN, EXODUS, VIO-LENCE, SKINLAB), passed away on May 16 at approximately 9:59 a.m. PST after a battle with cancer. She was 80 years old.
