With anticipation building for the April 15th release of Dimension Films’ Scream 4 – the latest entry in the top-grossing slasher franchise after more than ten years of silence – B-D reporter Chris Eggertsen and a horde of other journalists crowded into a conference room at West Hollywood’s Mondrian Hotel this week to engage in a Q&A session with director Wes Craven, returning cast members Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox Arquette, and David Arquette, and new additions Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, Rory Culkin, and Anthony Anderson, to discuss their involvement in the massively-hyped new sequel.

While the rumors have been flying for months now that original Scream 4 scribe Kevin Williamson – who was forced to leave the production early due to a scheduling conflict with “The Vampire Diaries” – became upset when Ehren Kruger was brought in for rewrites, when we asked Craven about the controversy earlier today the director was quick to deny (or at least plead ignorance) that any bad blood exists there. He instead maintained that the majority of what’s in the finished film was present in Williamson’s original script.

Scream franchise star David Arquette has signed on to direct the 3D psychological thriller Glutton for Remember Dreaming Prods. He also helmed The Tripper.

Kenny Yakkel (Dead Air) wrote the script, which is described as being in the vein of Misery.

Stan Spry and Cameron Larson are producing along with R. Scott Reid, Steve Ecclesine and Norween Yakkel, while Arquette will exec produce through his Coquette Prods. banner.

“David is the perfect person to direct “Glutton.” He brings invaluable assets to the project including his visual style, creative flare, and ability to relate to the cast,” said Spry.

The 3D pic is scheduled to start production in July in Canada.

Dimension Films has begun airing TV Spots for Wes Craven’s Scream 4, Ghostface’s triumphant return to theaters on April 15. Inside you’ll find the ad with many more planned down the pipeline.

In addition, ~~the studio has launched~~ a pretty fun fan made viral website was launched for Woodsboro High, Sidney Prescott’s old school that will also act as a device to introduce us to the “new” teens.

The site is loaded with all sorts of goodies that are sure to keep the avid Scream fan busy for quite some time. If the news would stop pouring in I personally wouldn’t mind taking a peak around for a few minutes. Feel free to post your own personal discoveries in the comments below.

Over the course of production there were a flurry of rumors that genre writer Ehren Kruger (The Ring, The Ring Two, Blood and Chocolate, The Skeleton Key, Scream 3) had come aboard to rewrite much of Kevin Williamson’s Scream 4 script. While it was more rumor than fact, no party ever really openly spoke about the situation.

Now that Craven is is post production, with an April 15 release date in sight, the iconic director opened up to UK mag Total Film and revealed exactly what went down on set in Ann Arbor, Michigan. You’ll find the full story inside…

Marketing has officially hit full speed as Dimension Films just launched the official website for Wes Craven’s Scream 4. Unlike most initial launches, the site is already built up and connected through Facebook where you can play a game of cat and mouse with Sidney and her “friends”. Go forth and have some fun, it’s Friday!

The buzz surrounding Scream 4 is at an all time high. Earlier this year we posted the first in depth raving review that said the movie was incredibly violent, with that confirmed through the film’s newly announced R-rating. Even through rumors of some troubles on set, and with the script, I think we’re all willing pretty excited for April 15.

We just now scored a quartet of new hi-res images from Dimension Films’ Scream 4 that feature a new look at Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox, as well as Rory Culkin, Erik Knudsen, Nico Tortorella, and Alison Brie.

I know this is big news to a lot of you, so in brief Wes Craven’s Scream 4 has been rated R “for strong bloody violence, language and some teen drinking.” Thanks to BD reader ‘JuLiaNNunezyoo12′ for the tip.

We heard the movie was crazy violent, so it’s nice to see the rating reflect that.

Included in Empire Magazine‘s forthcoming Scream 4 coverage, they’ve displayed a sweet piece of concept art for the Wes Craven-directed sequel as envisioned by artist Olly Moss. The poster is a minimalist approach to the franchise depicting Ghostface’s signature weapon.

I love when a studio is able to get creative with a poster without making it look cheesy. While the last Scream 4 one sheet channeled the original trilogy, the newest looks forward to a new decade, with new rules. It carries a profile look at ol’ Ghostface that smoothes out into blade, giving a little nod to “Stab” and the killer’s signature weapon. A+

News? Well no, but director Wes Craven released a fun little behind-the-scene photo of himself working hard on editing Scream 4, which is set for release on April 15.

He teased Twitter followers with “Shhh… SCREAM4 Killer Revealed,” adding, “Gotcha!” for those who clicked through. Did you really think he was going to show you the killer? Come on now. Although, playing a game of semantics, he’s not lying as he does show a new look at Ghostface.

To kick off the New Year, Dimenion Films set up a slew of test-screenings for Wes Craven’s highly anticipated Scream 4. A few early, but incredibly vague reviews out of the showing were intensely positive, which I found hard to believe seeing that Craven flew back to Detroit for a few days of additional photography.

Since then, Craven has spoken out clearing the air that they were NOT reshoots, and that he was adding some sugar and spice to an already superior movie. This is standard practice from a director who gets back behind the camera. The truth is on film.

Anyways, Bloody Disgusting reader ‘KillorbeKilled’ was prevy to one of the test-screenings and was cool enough to send in his review. I’d say this is the first complete review that still is relatively spoiler-free. I have verified that our mystery writer was in fact at the screening. Knowing he enjoyed an early cut this much, Craven’s extra ingredients are sure to add more depth and flavor. How far away in April 15th again?

Director Wes Craven took to Twitter now that’s he’s hanging around set of Scream 4, which is currently under additional photography in Detroit, Michigan. He tweets, “Everyone’s a critic… even Ghostface,” before posting a behind-the-scenes look at Ghostface watching a scene on Craven’s monitor. Posting yet another pic, this time of some bloody props, he writes, “Warming up the Props!” Check out the second image inside.

There’s a huge difference between reshoots and “additional photography”, which is why we clearly specify what’s taking place when a movie adds some new footage to the existing shoot. A lot of other websites don’t understand the difference, which is why directors get so frustrated with news leaking on “additional photography.” It’s not always a bad thing.

Wes Craven caught up with EW to explain what kind of filming took place on Scream 4 this past week in Michigan: “They’re not reshoots,” says Craven from the snowy set in Detroit. “We had a couple test screenings and we saw two scenes where they had moments you could add to and we just saw a spectacular opportunity. Bob [Weinstein] just said to me basically, `You go to your dark side and I’ll give you the money!’ [Laughs] The two scenes were really good, but we saw how they could be spectacular, so we thought, let’s just go for it. They were key moments of the script, so we just decided to go back and go for the grand slam on them.”

And as for reports that the ending was being retooled? Don’t believe it. “No, the ending is totally kick-ass,” says Craven. “We’re not gonna touch that. [The scenes being added to are] one scene that’s kind of in the late beginning and one scene that’s a little bit later.”

Now that this is laid to rest, can we can now focus on the April 15th release date? Please?

New Rules.” The first official one sheet has been revealed for Wes Craven’s return to Woodsboro that continues the evolution of the Scream posters (it’s very similar to that of Scream 3). Two weeks back news began to hit the Web that following a pair of test screenings, Wes Craven would be going back behind the camera for addition photography on Scream 4. The director confirmed reports via Twitter adding that “Community” and “Mad Men” star Alison Brie would be making a cameo, while also adding the following image. “@AlisonBrie gets ready for her close-up,” he wrote.

After a slew of test screenings on the East Coast, it looks like Wes Craven may be going back behind cameras to shoot additional film for Scream 4. On Location Vacations pointed out that one of their readers received a filming notice in Northville, MI (on Clement St. between 7 mile and Frederick) for Jan. 31 & Feb. 2 that simply listed a motion picture entitled “Z”. Anyone who was following the Scream 4 shoot last summer will remember much of the film was shot in Northville under the production name Z. Additional photography does not mean there are problems, sometime when the film is assembled they learn of soft spots that could be strengthened. Maybe they want more gore? Maybe they want a new ending? Who knows.
