When I was young and my parents took me to the supermarket, I’d always immediately head for the fruit and veggies section so I could steal all the twist-ties I could safely tuck into my pockets. I’d then take them back home so I could create little people and have them fight to the death. Seriously. I’d have the little twist-tie men duke it out. The winner would live to fight another day, and the loser would be skinned alive — which I’d accomplish by peeling the green plastic off the wire. Now, I do this with people.

Joking! Anyway, there’s this guy, let’s call him Jake. Jake makes incredible figures out of twist-ties. I don’t know if he pits them against each other, but what I do know is every one of them puts my warriors to shame. Check them out after the break.

IDW is relaunching their Doctor Who series this September. The new book will see veterans Andy Diggle and Mark Buckingham at the helm for the first arc. Diggle has quite the extensive writing portfolio so it seems the series is in good hands. ‘Doctor Who’ #1 is set for release in September, and below you can take a gander at a sweet monster-filled variant cover. Another batch of new releases came out today with a little bit for everybody. My personal hero and savior, Doctor Who, has a great one-shot out today with artwork by personal favorite, Ben Templesmith. A new Hack/Slash, Astounding Wolf-Man, Cthulhu Tales round out the rest of heavy hitters. Also two great trades came out today, Eerie #1 for you old classic horror readers and MPD-Psycho Volume 8 for you weird dark Japanese horror comics. A while back on the Dead Pixels Podcast, I had an interview with writer and artist Ben Templesmith about Dead Space. I randomly asked him a question about Doctor Who, since I am a huge fan. He then stated that he was working on an actual Doctor Who comic and it’s even more horror based.
