Sony Teases Design Of PlayStation 4

Tomorrow morning, Microsoft will reveal their follow-up to the Xbox 360 — and yes, I’ll be here to excitedly fill you in as it happens. Sony knows this, so to lure some of the spotlight away from their biggest competitor they’ve unveiled a brief tease of an impending unveiling of what the PlayStation 4 console will look like. Sure, that sentence made sense.

The console’s design was surprisingly absent when Sony first unveiled it back in February, leaving many of us to wonder whether it’s design would mess with the delicate balance of our living room’s feng shui. Unfortunately, we still don’t have an answer to that. What we do have is a batch of close-ups and a blurry teaser, both of which you can enjoy after the jump.

All Signs Point To The Next Xbox Being Revealed At E3

Major Nelson, the face of Xbox Live, has started a countdown on his blog. This countdown is ticking away toward the future, as countdowns do, and when it hits zero, it will be E3. What could he possibly be teasing? We won’t know until June, but there’s a pretty good chance it’ll be Microsoft’s follow-up to the Xbox, which has popped up now and again (and again) in various rumors. Rumors should always be taken with a grain of salt, and Microsoft has never not given us a big E3 reveal that’s worth counting down to, but still, this could be it. I’m feeling good about it — are you?

The Last Of Us’ E3 Extended Gameplay Is Heartpounding

Hopefully you already got to see the gameplay from E3 for The Last Of Us, because it’s awesome. Well if you missed it, or you just want a bigger taste, below you can watch the extended version of the gameplay. It will keep your heart racing the whole time while Elle and Joel get themselves repeatedly in and out of trouble. Brace yourself, the video is just under 16 minutes long. This is definitely up near the top of my most anticipated games list. 2013 on the Playstation 3.

13 Horror Games That Should’ve Been At E3

As a whole, I really wasn’t that impressed with E3 this year. I expected a lack of any real jaw-dropping announcements and outside of incredible showings from Watch Dogs, Beyond: Two Souls and The Last of Us, my fears mostly came true. I did however, have hopes that horror games would have a bigger showing at the event, and other than the intriguing ZombiU, this year’s selection wasn’t all that satisfying. Here are the 13 horror games I really wanted to hear something from this year. READ MORE

E3 2012: Special ‘Resident Evil 6′ Bundles Confirmed, But The Included Extras Are Digital

I’ve got some good news and some bad news, which would you like first? The good is a two-parter, if that affects your decision at all. Oh, you want the good? Well okay then. For starters, you’re a beautiful person. Also, remember those Resident Evil 6 bundles Amazon outed earlier this week? Those were confirmed today, but that’s where the bad news comes in, as all those delicious extras they offer are digital. It’s disappointing, but not all that surprising. Is anyone still interested in either bundle, or is the digital-only extras a deal breaker?

E3 2012: Sorry Boys, The New Dante Isn’t Gay

Now this is a little disappointing. I’ll admit I got some vibes from the recent trailer where Dante wasn’t afraid to show some skin and was described by an anchorman as a “sexual deviant,” a term that was thrown around a bit in the 70′s and 80′s when intolerance of homosexuality was commonplace. While most games are busy sexualizing their women, DmC has been focusing on its lean demon slaying protagonist who winks a lot and sleeps in the nude. Sadly, according to Ninja Theory chief designer Tameem Antoniades, the new Dante hasn’t changed quite that drastically. More after the break.

E3 2012: This Trio Of ‘Star Wars 1313′ Gameplay Videos Are Gritty And Gorgeous

The Force Unleashed burned me pretty bad. The second in particular was a dreadfully unpolished game that failed in almost every way imaginable. Thankfully, LucasArts is giving the Star Wars video game franchise another big push with Star Wars 1313, a game that will show off a darker side to the franchise. It’s a huge collaborative effort between LucasArts, LucasFilm, Industrial Light & Magic, and Skywalker Sound, and the three gameplay videos I have waiting for you after the break are a damn impressive introduction to this gritty new series.

E3 2012: This New ‘Lucius’ Trailer Proves Kids Are Evil

If you still need proof that all children, every last one of them, are evil, then I suggest keeping an eye on Lucius. It revolves around a six year-old boy of the same name who happens to be blessed with some rather impressive abilities. Lucius has an arsenal of dark powers that he can use to murder the unsuspecting people around him in some gloriously brutal ways. If the idea of arranging deadly accidents and using telekinesis and mind control to do all sorts of naughty things appeals to you, check out the game’s new trailer after the jump.

E3 2012: Get Ready To Pick Your Jaw Up Off The Floor As Epic Unveils Their Next Gen Game Engine

If you’re a gamer you’ve almost definitely played a game that uses Epic’s Unreal Engine. It’s without a doubt the most popular engine of this generation as it’s used by everything from Gears of War to Batman: Arkham City, Mass Effect and Mortal Kombat, as well as the upcoming BioShock Infinite, Borderlands 2, Aliens: Colonial Marines, DmC: Devil May Cry, and a plethora of other highly anticipated games. It’s popular, and if this generation is anything to go by, there’s a distinct possibility the newly unveiled Unreal Engine 4 will be powering many of the titles of the next generation of video games. In the gameplay video after the break you’ll see a stunning video that will make you itch for the next generation of consoles.

E3 2012: Practice Your Headshots In This Brand New ‘Deadlight’ Gameplay

There’s a new sidescrolling survival horror platformer in town and that game is called Adam’s Live Nude Slapstick Adventure: The Reckoning. Actually, it’s called Deadlight and I’m pretty sure it will be far more terrifying than anything I could come up with. We’ve already seen it in action, but really, Deadlight’s the type of game you just can’t get enough of, especially since there really isn’t anything else like it right now. Also, it’s being developed by Tequila Works, a studio that I’d very much like to work at because it sounds like they’re the type of company that has a tequila dispenser in the cafeteria. A tequila dispenser. Head past the break for four fantastic minutes of gameplay.

E3 2012: ‘Metro: Last Light’ Nominated For Best In Show, Looks Excellent

If the intensely creepy live action short film released last week wasn’t enough to get you pumped for Metro: Last Light, I think you’re playing a little too hard to get. Last Light seems to be impressing quite a few people at E3, as it’s received five nominations for IGN’s E3 awards, including Best in Show. We’ll have our own E3 awards up soon, and you can expect to see it nab a few nominations there as well. Head past the break for some new gameplay footage and an interview with Huw Beynon, courtesy of Game Trailers.

E3 2012: Payday Dev Working On ‘Left 4 Dead’ Prequel

Last month Payday: The Heist developer Overkill Entertainment revealed they are currently hard at work on a collaborative effort with Valve that’s a “very cool blend of Payday and Left 4 Dead.” Not much else about the game was announced at the time, but according to a source at CVG this game could be a prequel to Left 4 Dead. “We are working on a very cool blend of Payday and Left 4 Dead. I am sure it is so exciting that it will have some players check into the hospital before we are done.” said a statement from Overkill regarding the announcement. Could this mean we’ll finally find out how the outbreak began? So far, the Left 4 Dead series has been largely void of a real plot, so some details regarding the cause of the zombie apocalypse in a prequel sounds good to me. What do you think?

E3 2012: ‘Dishonored’ Gets Vicious In This Throat Slashing, Face Stabbing New Trailer

Dishonored is quickly becoming one of my most anticipated games. With each morsel of gameplay I get my anticipation grows and my patience shortens. I want to run over rooftops of a gloomy Victorian city now. I want to jump from said rooftops onto the shoulders of an unsuspecting guard so I can plunge my hidden blade into the back of his neck now. I want to do all this while wearing an intensely badass looking mask right fucking now. In case you’re still not sure about this game, and really, if you aren’t you’re officially dead inside, you really need to check out its E3 trailer after the jump. It’s one part creepy, two parts awesome, with a dash of fuck yes thrown in. READ MORE

E3 2012: Summon Gargoyles And Fight Skeletons In This Brand New ‘Dawnguard’ Gameplay

Skyrim will soon be getting its first DLC with Dawnguard, an expansion that focuses on the war between the Dawnguard and the vampire lords. It offers many more hours of gameplay to a game that’s already brimming with things to do. We haven’t really had the chance to see the expansion in action, until now, and it looks insanely fun. Head past the break to watch vampire lords fling people around a bit, summon gargoyles to beat them up then levitate them in the air, toying with them before they eat them alive. I think I’ll use all these skills to become the biggest vampire douche the world of Skyrim has ever seen. What about you, are you on Team Dawnguard or Team Awesome Vampires Who Kill Just For Funsies?

E3 2012: Amazon Outs Special ‘Resident Evil 6′ Bundles

Two Resident Evil 6 bundles have been outed by online retailer Amazon–one for the PS3 and another for the Xbox 360–that include a variety of Resident Evil related bonuses for those who look at Resident Evil 6 and scoff at its utter lack of content. The first is the Resident Evil Anthology for the PS3, which brings with it Resident Evil 6, Resident Evil Director’s Cut, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, Resident Evil 4 HD and the Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition. The second is the Resident Evil Archives for the Xbox 360 and it will include Resident Evil 6, Resident Evil 4 HD, Code Veronica HD, Resident Evil 5′s Gold Edition and the CGI film Resident Evil: Degeneration. Looks like Xbox 360 owners got the short end of that severed limb, but both are still fantastic deals for their $89.99 asking price. Anyone interested in either of these delicious bundles?

E3 2012: Feast Your Eyes On Some Footage From Each Of The Three ‘Resident Evil 6′ Campaigns

Not quite sure what you’re going to get with Resident Evil 6? That’s understandable, seeing as it’s been fairly nonsensical so far. For the unaware, there are three campaigns starring Leon Kennedy, Chris Redfield, Jake Muller, and their respective partners. They’re separate, but at the same time they’re woven together, so at certain points the main characters will meet each other and say hi, maybe go out for a coffee, then return to kicking mountains of ass. Each story plays wildly different from the next and will be roughly the length of the campaign in Resident Evil 5 (that took roughly 4-5 hours assuming you spent a lot of time marveling at the scenery). Check out some gameplay footage from each of the three stories after the jump.

Remedy Creative Director Tweets A Link To A Blog That Could Be Related To ‘Alan Wake 2′

For a year the possibility of a true sequel to Alan Wake has been hanging over us like a cloud–a cloud you want to jump up and grab so you can drag it back down to earth and rub your face all over it, maybe see if it’s up for some naked spooning, you tell it you don’t even mind if it’s the big spoon, because you love it that much. A few days ago Remedy creative director Sam Lake tweeted a link to a blog by a writer named Samantha. Seemed innocent enough at the time, that is, until Samantha’s writings started coming off a little cray cray. It sounds like she bought Alan’s lake house and upon finding some of his writings started having nightmares. Her most recent post from earlier today took the creep factor to a whole new level, saying Called 911. Men outside shadows darkcominghelpmoreligh. Men in the shadows? Dark coming? More light? Anyone else getting strong Alan Wake vibes from this? I’m predicting an Alan Wake 2 reveal coming soon. Come on Remedy, give it to me, I’m ready for it.

E3 2012: ‘Silent Hill: Book Of Memories’ (Supposedly) Coming This October, Teases With Another Trailer

If you’ve been following Book of Memories you’re undoubtedly fully aware of its fickle relationship with release dates, so I suggest taking this bit of news with a grain of salt lest you get your heart broken as you’re again forced to watch as Pyramid Head slowly walks off out of view, leaving you with thoughts of what could have been. If you’ve been anxiously waiting for some steamy handheld Silent Hill co-op action, you’ll get all you can handle this October when Silent Hill: Book of Memories releases for the PS Vita. It features four player co-op, a more action oriented approach to the survival horror series, and it almost definitely won’t be awful. Check out the trailer after the break.

E3 2012: Get Some Doom Back Into Your Life With The “Doom 3 BFG Edition”

About a week ago Adam broke wind of the upcoming Doom 3 BFG Edition. Yes, I have turned “revealed” into “broke wind” permanently. Via what Adam previously stated the BFG is going to have some brand new levels, the Resurrection of Evil expansion, Doom 1 and 2, 3D support, 5.1 surround sound, and the ability to have a flashlight and a gun out at the same time. Which I honestly don’t remember having to have a flashlight out separately from the gun, but ah it’s nice to be pampered. Check out some excellent looking new screens past the break, and look for the game this fall on the PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360. This would mark the 1st Doom game ever being released on the PS3.
