Welcome to COMICS TO FEAST ON, which is a slightly altered version of the usual Pull and Hold. Rather than cramming so many previews down your throat that you barely breathe, I’m going to give you my ten most anticipated books of the week. So feast your eyes on these!

With the ever-increasing number of books coming out between the tie-ins, the crossovers, and the new series, we’ve got to limit our list of comics for the week somehow. Rather than focus on every major comic hitting the shelves I’ll narrow it down to ten books that stand out from the rest. Whether you’ve been into comics since you were a young’un, or you’re new to the game, I’m here to help you decide which books to read. As publisher DC Comics gets geared up to (re)launch their all new 52 next month, one could say that the publisher has their hands more than full as they make the mad dash to try and tie-up all the loose ends that come along with such a heavy-handed manuever. A perfect example of this is the extremely popular “FLASHPOINT” event, and beyond the break you can check out a 3 page preview of one of the stories’ many titles that will be ending this month with “FRANKENSTEIN AND THE CREATURES OF THE UNKNOWN” issue #3. Welcome to the weekly previews for August 3rd, 2011 here at Graphic Content! Let me preface this week by saying that there are A LOT of good comics coming out this week. Though every week has it’s highlights, I believe this is the best of the summer with several books by Snyder, the start of Spider Island, and the second to last Flashpoint issue! Get ready for some time indoors this week because there are way too many books for you spend you days running around outside in the sun like a loser.

The truth is everyone would read all the books if they had the time and money, but in reality most of us don’t. As with any major event in the DC universe, it’s generally a given that there will be many tie-in issues. We saw with Blackest Night and Brightest Day just what Geoff Johns is capable of, how he can weave his magic storytelling abilities across worlds. However, Flashpoint is absolutely massive. Along with Johns’ five-issue series there will be fifteen other mini-series and various one-shots to accompany Barry Allen on his journey into a strange tomorrow. While Johns’ will not write every issue, as Chief Creative Officer of DC, he’ll likely oversee the entire project. With the tagline “Everything will change in a flash”, how could you possibly pass this up? Ready on for the skinny…
