‘Mars Attacks’ Goes After The IDW Universe This Winter!

IDW announced a major crossover event that will has the Mars Attacks martians invading the following titles: “Transformers”, “Popeye”, “The Real Ghostbusters”, “Kiss”, and “Zombies vs Robots”. The publisher released a set of teaser images featuring the aliens attacking the various logos. No specific details have been announced regarding plot or length of the event, but it is set to begin at the turn of the new year. I imagine it will take a similar for to the “Infestation” event. See all the teasers below. READ MORE

‘Ghost Busters,’ ‘Jurassic Park’ Heading Back to Theaters?

The idea of studios re-releasing major franchise films isn’t a new one, and while it comes off as a grab for another fistful of cash, it’s still awesome for the fans who weren’t lucky enough to see them upon initial release. While we were sitting in theaters experiencing both Ghost Busters and Jurassic Park, plenty of parents were popping out babies, all of which are now of the right age to experience both films for the first time.

According to Empire, Steven Spielberg’s groundbreaking Jurassic Park is headed back into UK cinemas on September 23. Hopefully a US release soon follows in conjunction with the new Blu-ray set. Check out a trailer below.

Also, Digital Spy is reporting that Ghostbusters will return to cinemas next month as well. The ’80s spirit-hunting classic is to open in cinemas worldwide this Halloween as an all-new digitally-restored release. The fact they use the wording “cinemas” eludes to also another UK release. Lucky bastards! Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Sigourney Weaver starred in the sci-fi comedy, which was directed by Ivan Reitman. Ghostbusters grossed $290 million on its original theatrical release in 1984 and spawned a sequel in 1989.

I’ve Just About Had It With ‘Ghostbusters 3′

This entire Ghostbusters 3 circus is officially pissing me off. Every single person involved is a f*cking liar, or spinning their words, or playing semantics (sift through all of the finger pointing). There’s obviously a problem somewhere as the wheel is missing the proper spokes to get rolling. It’s been promised over and over, only now attached director Ivan Reitman is calling everyone a liar. “Virtually everything you’ve read on the internet [about Ghostbusters III] is not accurate,” he tells Cinema Blend, adding that they still need to get the cast together first. “[We] have some actors who seem to be interested in doing it, a ton of interest in the film.” Yeah, I’m sure it’s all bull crap, even when we broke the news that he’d be directing. According to his brash response, I guess he’s not? Ridiculous. Columbia, put your foot down, slam a fist, it’s time to get this goddamn movie off the ground already.

‘Ghostbusters 3′ Begins Production May 2011?

More good news on the ghost busting front as Production Weekly is reporting that they’ve heard Sony’s Columbia Pictures is aiming at a May 2011 start date for Ghostbusters 3, which would put it as part of their monster 2012 line-up. It was reported last month that Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky’s latest rewrite was approved, with a little help from producer/star Dan Aykroyd. As of this writing, Ivan Reitman will direct with Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Rick Moranis and Sigourney Weaver returning to star. The plot is said to revolve around Dana and Peter’s lovechild, Oscar, and his new found job as a “Ghost Buster”.
