Review: ‘B.P.R.D. Hell on Earth: The Return of the Master’ #1

After several weeks of waiting, I’m rather pleased that Dark Horse finally released a new issue in the “B.P.R.D. Hell on Earth” saga, The Return of the Master part 1. Thehe “Hell on Earth” event is starting to come to a head, and this issue shows that a lot more brooding trouble is on the way for the Bureau. “The Return of the Master” #1 contains some breakthrough plot advancements as well as a healthy supply of blood and violence, fitting in perfectly with the event. B.P.R.D. Will Be Renumbered Starting At Issue #100

The editor of Dark Horse Comics, Scott Allie, told Comics Allians their plans to begin numbering B.P.R.D. starting with #100, in order to stray from their “ongoing series of miniseries.” Starting things off at issue #100 will undoubtedly be confusing for comic shoppers who do not frequent online news sites, and it really adds to the whole fear-of-missing-out problem that is already predominant in comics. Scott Allie assures, however, that this is the right move for the series. Read on… READ MORE

Review: ‘B.P.R.D. Hell On Earth: Exorcism’ #2

And boom goes the dynamite! BPRD’s “Hell on Earth” saga strikes again with another kick ass story arc as the 2-part “Exorcism” comes to a blood pumping conclusion. I assumed that this issue would be faster paced than the first, which wasn’t too shabby to begin with. Of course, I was right. Story arc after story arc “B.P.R.D.” has delivers nonstop entertainment with quality story lines and consistently fabulous art. This issue opens the door for the “Hell on Earth” event to begin hitting climatic moments. READ MORE

[Random Cool] Ron Perlman Brings Hellboy Back For Make-A-Wish

Ron Perlman, who played Hellboy in the Guillermo del Toro film adaptations, teamed up with Spectral Motion in order to fulfill the wish of a young boy named Zachary as part of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. While fans may have been hoping that Perlman would don the costume once again for a new film, this is undeniably touching, and a testament to this man’s character. Zachary made a wish to both meet and become Dark Horse Comics’ famous red demon, and it has been granted. Check out the images of the meeting below. READ MORE

Review: ‘BPRD Hell On Earth: The Transformation of JH O’Donnell’ One Shot

The first thing that popped into my head when reading Dark Horse Comics newest installment in the B.P.R.D. “Hell on Earth” event was, “finally”! A flash back to a time when crazy old Professor O’Donnell wasn’t crazy or old, allows for a refreshing story that finally brings back one of my favorite demonic heroes, Hellboy. Allie writes this book in a way that adds new meaning to the word creepy. If you thought “Pickens County Horror” was incredibly eerie, let’s just say a new champion has been crowned. This one shot issue is one of the best of “Hell on Earth” so far, with an eye opening reveal of O’Donnell’s past. READ MORE

Preview: ‘B.P.R.D. Hell on Earth: Transformation of J. H. O’Donnell’ One Shot

Despite Mignola’s obsession with all supernatural monsters, vampires (perhaps the most famous of all monsters) have been far and few between in his works. However, in a recent discussion with CBR, Mignola spoke about his plans to change that in the BPRD Universe; the vampires are coming out of hiding. The “The Pickens County Horror” two-parter offered a glimpse into the vampire world of BPRD and next week’s “Transformation of J. H. O’Donnell” the bloodsuckers are back in full force to attack our favorite paranormal investigators. READ MORE

Who doesn’t want to raise a little hell everyone once in a while? Mignola and Acrudi’s “Hell On Earth” event has been absolutely astounding so far. Every single title that has fallen under the “Hell on Earth” banner has been a definitive chapter in the BPRD universe, and things are just starting to heat up. Review: B.P.R.D.: Hell on Earth: The Pickens County Horror #2

Something is definitely wrong in Pickens County, but the presence of a family of vampires is only the beginning! The two-part B.P.R.D. arc entitled “Pickens County Horror” comes to a thrilling and mysterious ending as agent Vaughn puts the FO in GTFO. I have a tickling sensation that this won’t be the last time we see the paranormal mushroom related activity in Mignola’s Hell on Earth event. READ MORE

Review: B.P.R.D. Hell on Earth: The Long Death #2

As far as the comic realm goes I am relatively new to Hellboy let alone the BPRD books affiliated with the big red bastard. I’ve always been a huge fan of the del Toro films, but I just never got around to reading the source material. When I picked up Dark Horse’s newest BPRD series, BPRD Hell on Earth: The Long Death, I was devastated by the fact that I am so far behind the times! Why wasn’t I reading more of this earlier! Blood and gore galore (see what I did there?), a big mean cat-creature from hell, and the spectral wonder Johann Kraus; where could you go wrong? I think I’ve found my new obsession. Ron Perlman Says ‘Hellboy 3 Probably Won’t Happen, And He’s Probably Right

HellboyLand22812 Ron Perlman Says Hellboy 3 Probably Wont Happen, And Hes Probably Right

During a recent press conference for Festival International du Film Fantastique de Gérardmer 2012, Ron Perlman let drop that Hellboy 3 probably isn’t ever going to happen. Which kind of makes sense.

The Hellboy films are great, but they’re not enormous moneymakers (nor are they flops, they’re just not sure things). And Guillermo Del Toro’s dance card is extremely full of projects after he finishes Pacific Rim. The odds for the money and a willing studio being in place during the brief window of time Del Toro may have to make the film (whenever that may be) are kind of low.

Or, in the words of Perlman, “If I had to bet, I would bet there will be no Hellboy 3… It would be a great shame if we never did it… It’s kind of like Dorothy in ‘The Wizard Of Oz’, we close our eyes and click our heels [in the hopes it will come together].

Hit the jump for video from the press conference, where he also discusses his willingness to be on “Game Of Thrones” – not that he necessarily will be. READ MORE
