Patrick Lussier Updates ‘Hellraiser’ – Won’t Necessarily Be in 3-D

In our exclusive chat with Drive Angry 3D director Patrick Lussier about his latest film – releasing in theaters this Friday! – B-D reporter Chris Eggertsen of course had to ask him about the planned Hellraiser reboot, the script for which he and partner-in-crime Todd Farmer are currently writing. As has previously been reported, the film will not be a traditional remake following the plot of the original story but rather a “reboot” that will come at the Hellraiser universe from a new angle focusing heavily on the “world” of the Lament Configuration puzzle box.

Exclusive Audio Interview: Silent Hill Downpour Composer Dan Licht

Bloody-Disgusting has scored an exclusive interview with Dan Licht, composer of the upcoming video game, Silent Hill Downpour. Dan Licht should be well known to you readers as he has composed a load of horror movies, including Children of the Corn II and III, Hellraiser: Bloodline, Thinner, Amityville 1992: It’s About Time, Soul Survivors, and, probably what most of you know him best for, the hit TV show Dexter. However, this interview focuses solely on Silent Hill and the music he is creating for the game. Check out the exclusive interview, as well as a track from the game and some pictures, after the jump.

Exclusive Audio Interview: Silent Hill Downpour Composer Dan Licht

Dan’s appointment as composer marks the first time in the Silent Hill franchise that Akira Yamaoka has not been behind the music. Even though I’m a huge fan of Akira’s work, I am really excited for what Dan can bring to the game and I’m eager to hear his music. READ MORE

Clive Barker Teases Return to Directing

You can read into this any way you like, but did Clive Barker just tease his return to directing?

On his official Twitter account, the legendary horror artists/author/director made some statements about the forthcoming “Arabat” adaptation. “Christopher Carrion comes to life, in a filmed trailer for ABARAT III,” he explains adding that “the director of the three minute taste of the “Abarat” is my great friend Mark Miller. Special effects by Brandon Mahlberg. Make-up and effects by the talented Stephen Imhoff, and Chris Alex., who will be working on my next movie.

I wonder what his “next movie” will be? Maybe the long-gestured Tortured Souls: Animae Damnatae? The last time Barker took the helm was the completely underrated Lord of Illusions back in 1994. Barker is known as the creator of Hellraiser and the keeper of the domain, “Pinhead”.

‘Hellraiser’ Remake Stays in Clive Barker’s World

It was announced back in October that Drive Angry and My Bloody Valentine director/writer duo, Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer, respectively, would be reteaming for a remake of Clive Barker’s Hellraiser for Dimension Films. Moviefone caught up with Lussier who talked a bit about keeping the original’s tone: “We want to pull from the world that Clive created. Specifically that’s what we wanted to do. In that original film he opened so many interesting doorways and opportunities that that’s what we want to explore– always keeping in mind what he had done and how he did it and just working within that world.” He continues talking about how it won’t be focusing on “teens”, like the Weinsteins originally wanted. “Oh, God no. No, no, we definitely did not want to do that. If you’re going to make a ‘Hellraiser’ movie… you’re basically looking at a franchise that went from Clive’s movie up to the ‘Hellraiser’-in-Space movie, ‘Bloodline,’ which had some great stuff in it, actually; the way it goes backwards and forwards in time, and Angelique is such an interesting character.” Oh, such sweet, sweet flesh.

Hellraiser

Clive Barker’s feature directing debut graphically depicts the tale of a man and wife who move into an old house and discover a hideous creature – the man’s half-brother, who is also the woman’s former lover – hiding upstairs. Having lost his earthly body to a trio of S&M demons, the Cenobites, he is brought back into existence by a drop of blood on the floor. He soon forces his former mistress to bring him his necessary human sacrifices to complete his body… but the Cenobites won’t be happy about this.
