John Cusack Quotes “A Tell Tale Heart” In First Clip From ‘The Raven’!

The macabre and lurid tales of Edgar Allan Poe are vividly brought to life – and death – in five Murderous Visions, which take us through the horrific murders inspired by Poe’s gothic tales in Relativity’s forthcoming The Raven. Bloody Disgusting is exclusively debuting the first of these murderous visions, “A Tell Tale Heart”, which features a very terrified Alice Eve who has been buried alive. Starring John Cusack as Poe, the movie is a deadly game of cat and mouse, which also stars Luke Evans, Brendan Gleeson and Oliver Jackson-Cohen.

Today is the 162nd anniversary of Edgar Allen Poe’s death and to commemorate the event there’s a whole lot of The Raven action going on. While marking a death date rather than a birth date may seem macabre, considering the subject at hand it seems more than appropriate.

Evans plays a detective who partners with Poe (John Cusack) to search for a serial killer who has kidnapped the author’s fiancee (Alice Eve) and has gone on a murder spree that mimics the author’s work.

Cusack and Cage Might Tread ‘The Frozen Ground’

John Cusack and Nicolas Cage are in talks to star in The Frozen Ground, a serial killer flick which is set to shoot in Anchorage, Alaska this fall. The film, which was written and will be directed by Scott Walker, is based on true events surrounding Alaska’s most notorious serial predator, Robert Hansen. Cusack is in talks to play a respected family man who for over 12 years abducted more than 24 women and flew them into the Alaskan wilderness to be hunted. Cage is in talks to play a principled and dedicated Alaskan State Trooper who finds Hansen’s only surviving teen victim alive on the street. The trooper and the young girl finally bring Hansen to justice.

This project seems almost TOO normal for Cage. I can’t imagine that there are many bees in Alaska, so the best we can hope for is a Bad Lieutenant kind of performance, which is OK in my book.

‘The Raven’ Soars Into 2012

Currently in the midst of post-production, Relativity Media has picked a theatrical release date of March 9, 2012 for The Raven… but not necessarily under that name. The distributer announced that the title has been changed to James McTeigue’s Edgar Allan Poe project for the time being (a similar fate recently befell The Dibbuk Box). It could technically revert back to its original title by the time it’s released, but odds are it’ll end up being named something like ‘Poe’.

Starring John Cusack, Luke Evans, and Alice Eve, The Raven (as it was once called…) begins with Poe’s arrival in Baltimore as a serial killer is terrorizing the city, using the writer’s stories as the inspiration for his crimes. Poe is a suspect at first, but he eventually joins forces with a police inspector to solve the crimes and save the woman he loves.
