Authorized Peter Steele (Type O Negative) Biography Planned
On April 14th, 2010, the music world was shocked when Type O Negative bassist/frontman Peter Steele passed away due to heart failure. He was 48 years old. Formed in 1989, the band released seven studio albums, beginning with 1991′s Slow, Deep And Hard and ending with 2007′s Dead Again. They attained popularity with 1993′s Bloody Kisses, which was the first Roadrunner Records album to achieve a platinum selling status.
Now, metal journalist/author Jeff Wagner is working on an authorized biography of the towering musician. He writes via the official Facebook page, “The authorized biography of Peter Steele will be a comprehensive investigation of his life and music, supported by those who knew him best, written by a fan, for the fans.”
Wagner adds, “We assure you, this book is authorized by those closest to him, and will contain a wide assortment of reflections from those who knew him best.” READ MORE
Type O Negative Tribute Album For Peter Steele Released
It’s been one year since Type O Negative frontman Peter Steele unexpectedly passed away. To celebrate his memory, MetalUnderground along with Dan Mitchell of Beneath The Wood studios have put together ‘All For None, None For All‘, a tribute album featuring Type O Negative covers from underground bands all over the world. The entire track list is after the jump as well as information on how to get your copy.
Dan Mitchell of Autumns Eyes/Beneath The Wood Studios commented: “My original idea was to find bands that were only interested in paying tribute to Peter, and not getting caught up in the politics of it all. No talks of money, labels, suits, or anyone trying to suck the life out of it. Just a straight up tribute.”

Type O Negative Frontman, Peter Steele, Has Passed Away
Today is a really sad and awful day for metal music. Peter Steele, singer and bassist for Type O Negative has passed away due to heart failure. There is no official statement from the band as of yet but they will have one released by the end of today. Peter Steele was born as Petrus T. Ratajczyk on January 4, 1962 and passed away yesterday April 14, 2010. He was 48 years old and prior to Type O Negative he played in thrash metal band Carnivore. Peter will be dearly missed.
