Watch The ‘Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City’ Web Series Right Here!

Remember that live-action fan-made web series that was teased back in February? It’s called Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, and while it isn’t finished, you can watch the first episode in Chris and Jill’s stories, as well as four episodes in Leon’s story. After the break I have the first episode, which branches off into three separate story-lines. It’s kind of neat how they’re going about this, it’s not just another linear web series.

So grab a Jill sandwich, click that adorable Read More button, and get ready to get your Resident Evil on.

[E3 2013] Sebastian Gets Chainsawed In First ‘The Evil Within’ Footage

It’s about time. Bethesda has finally given us a look at Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami’s next horror game, The Evil Within. This first look, via GameTrailers, shows the atmosphere Mikami and his Tango Gameworks studio are trying to create. Even though we can’t really hear what’s going on in the demo they showed today, visually, the game looks to be shaping up nicely. You can expect to see it on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC next year.

[Freaky Fashion] This ‘Resident Evil: Revelations’ Cosplay Needs More Ooze

With the annual E3 insanity prepping to kick off tomorrow, that’s understandably on a lot of our minds. We have a week’s worth of big headlines to look forward to, making today a sort of ‘calm before the storm.’ I say we enjoy this relative calmness by sitting down and enjoying some amazing cosplay of Rachel from Resident Evil: Revelations. Sadly, this is pre-oozified Rachel, so the cosplay is sans slimy tentacles and dangly bits. Maybe she’ll do that next?

‘Resident Evil: Revelations’ Videos Show Off Rachel Ooze And Lady Hunk

Last month, Capcom unveiled their DLC plans for Resident Evil: Revelations, which recently made its way to the big bad world of consoles. Today, they’ve given us a look at two characters you’ll soon be able to pay to unlock in the game’s Raid mode. The first is Rachel Ooze, an oozified version of Rachel who stars in one of the creepier parts of the game, and Lady Hunk, which… doesn’t really require much explanation.

In related news, the title of my autobiography will be Lady Hunk. Look for it on not a single store shelf later this summer.

Someone’s Figured Out How Much The ‘Resident Evil’ Spencer Mansion Is Worth

Movoto, a real estate blog, has taken it upon themselves to figure out just how much the Spencer mansion — the mansion the original Resident Evil took place in — is worth. How exactly does one go about deciding the value of a mansion located in the fictional Arklay Forest, just outside of the fictional town of Raccoon City? By measuring every room in the in-game mansion to find its square footage and comparing that to the price of a real-world location, of course! Find out how much the mansion is worth after the jump.

Let’s Take A Tour Of Capcom’s ‘Resident Evil’ Themed Cafe

Capcom’s Unity Blog posted a video walkthrough of the Biohazard Cafe & Grill — a Resident Evil (the series is called Biohazard in Japan) themed restaurant where the waitresses are dressed like (skimpy) S.T.A.R.S officers and framed guns and Raccoon City newspaper clippings adorn the walls. It looks amazing, and I definitely wouldn’t mind eating their not-Raccoon meat as I listen to Savage Garden — all the music is from 1998 — and watch people dance awkwardly in front of a life-size Tyrant. Check it out after the jump.

Universal Studios Japan Reanimates Its ‘Resident Evil’ Attraction

Last year, Universal Studios Japan teamed up with Capcom to create an incredible theme park inspired by the world of Resident Evil. Today, Japanese gaming mag Famitsu revealed a similar project called Resident Evil The Real — a new attraction where you’re given a model gun (the Samurai Edge, I hope) and 5-10 minutes to fight for your life with limited ammunition.

Apparently, the B.O.W.s, including the Licker, look very realistic. This is thanks to legendary Japanese special effects artist Shinichi Wakasa (Godzilla), who had a hand in the creature design.

New ‘The Evil Within’ Screens Emerge

Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami’s next game is The Evil Within, a horror game that aims to bring horror back. Where did it go? No one knows. We haven’t seen much of the game outside of an unnerving live-action trailer and a bunch of screenshots, and today, we can add a few more screenshots to that list. It looks terrifying, and we can look forward to hearing more from the game at E3 next month.

In the meantime, you should definitely check out my The Evil Within wish list.

6 Things I Want From ‘The Evil Within’

All this talk about the next generation of consoles has gotten be excited for the next generation of video games. Oh, the Xbox One lets us watch TV on our TV? That’s neat and all, but I’d much rather hear all about the amazing games I’ll be playing on it.

The Evil Within is one of the more exciting next-gen horror games we have on the way — of which there are many — as it’s being developed by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami’s Tango Gameworks studio. It’s also being published by Bethesda, the house of Skyrim, who also happen to be involved in another mysterious next-gen horror game (potentially two) called Doom 4. So what would I like to see from the game that’s aiming to “bring horror back to its roots?” Let’s dig in.

Capcom Cancels ‘Revelations’ Bloody Pool Stunt After London Beheading

Capcom UK has officially cancelled their bizarre bloody pool promotion for Resident Evil: Revelations following the grisly murder of Lee Rigby last week in the London neighborhood of Woolwich. In their promotional stunt, folks desperate for Resident Evil swag could dive into a 55,000 gallon pool filled with fake blood and body parts to get the goodies inside. I hesitate going into a normal public pool, I can’t imagine diving into one filled with a bunch of crap for a beanie.

It’s not all bad news — at least Revelations is really good.

In case my word isn’t enough to motivate you to click that Read More link, one of the videos features a clay Leon Kennedy going balls-to-the-wall crazy during a drug bust. Enjoy.

‘Resident Evil: Revelations’ Review: From The Depths

Fans of Capcom’s longstanding survival horror turned action horror turned action adventure franchise Resident Evil have been through a lot. It’s an audience that’s definitely grown over the years, but in doing so it’s also become fragmented. There are what I like to refer to as the “purists” who want the series to return to its roots, the “Boyalists” who don’t mind a little extra action in their Resident Evil soup, and finally, the “loyalists” who are happy with the series any way they can get it. The latter group will enjoy Operation Raccoon City just as much as Code Veronica, simply because it’s Resident Evil.

Whichever group you proudly declare yourself a member of, Resident Evil: Revelations offers something for everyone. Find out if its transition to consoles makes for a “definitive” version or whether you should stick with its handheld sibling, in my review.

I Want This Life-Size Nemesis Bust Right Now

Hollywood Collectibles recently unveiled a new addition to their store, and it has a face only a mother could love. Okay, fine, I love it too. Standing at 28″ tall and 26″ wide, this life-size Nemesis bust is made of fiberglass and hand painted with an extraordinary attention to detail. It looks intimidating, but I think it’s safe to say the scariest thing about it is its $800 price tag. That’s like, 800 Mountain Dews.

In related news, my birthday is coming up and since none of you bought me anything last year, this would be a mighty good way of making that up to me. If you do, I’m willing to share pictures of Nemmy — that’s what I’ll call him, Nemmy — and my first date. I’m thinking Chinese food and a horror movie. Do you think Nemmy would mind if we watched Resident Evil?

Capcom Unveils ‘Resident Evil: Revelations’ DLC, Lady HUNK Forgot Her Pants

I’ve been on board with everything Capcom has been doing with Resident Evil: Revelations’ upcoming HD release, especially Chris’s sexy sailor costume. This DLC includes a playable Lady HUNK. You want to know how you can tell the difference between HUNK and Lady HUNK? One wears pants.

Rachel Ooze — a squishier, slimier version of the Rachel already revealed as a playable character — will be joining Lady HUNK as DLC for Revelations’ Raid Mode.

It’s Decided, ‘Resident Evil: Revelations’ Has The Best Unlockable Costumes

Capcom really hat outdone themselves with the unlockable costumes in Resident Evil: Revelations. Jill and Keith look deliciously cheesy, but Chris’s costume is particularly unforgettable. I really hope Capcom releases a batch of Chris pin-up posters, because this is just too good.

I’d say more, but I’d rather you checked them out for yourself. I wouldn’t want to say too much.

The 5 Best ‘Resident Evil’ Games!

With Revelations coming to nearly every console on the planet in just three short weeks (May 21), I’ve been thinking — what are the best Resident Evil games? I wanted to rank the entire series, but then I remembered there are significantly more games in Capcom’s legendary horror franchise then there are in Silent Hill. I’ll also freely admit I haven’t played every game released to-date, nor do I have the time (or the will) to go through the few I missed to see where they place.

So, out of sheer laziness, I decided to choose the five best games and rank them from “worst” to best. Check out my list after the break, and feel free to disagree and offer your own in the comments! READ MORE

It might also be the last game Mikami directs.

Thanks to a few savvy people on NeoGaf, we now know more about this game. Details after the break.

Capcom Cancels Multiple Games, Shifts Focus To In-House Development

Lately, Capcom has been outsourcing the development of many of their games to third parties. Slant Six did Operation Raccoon City, Ninja Theory had DmC: Devil May Cry, Lost Planet 3 is coming from Spark Unlimited, etc. Unfortunately, Capcom isn’t very happy with how these games have been performing. The company confirmed a “special loss” of ¥7.2 bn ($73.3 MM) after cancelling multiple titles that were in development at third party studios. They’re blaming the significant loss on “excessive outsourcing” of low quality games, slow digital expansion, and poor marketing.

Devil May Cry and Resident Evil 6 fell way short of expectations; DmC sold 1.1 million units of Capcom’s 2 million target, and RE6 performed even worse (relative to expectations), after selling over 2 million less copies than what they expected. Ouch.
