Fan Theory: “American Horror Story” Teasers are Sending Us on a Wild Goose Chase

Published

Late last night (early this morning?), we posted an official look at the six teasers that portend FX’s upcoming “American Horror Story ?6“. Each teaser has a wildly different theme with, for example, one resembling a gruesome surgery while another hints at a deadly and dangerous baby.

When it came to the teasers for “AHS: Hotel”, there was a recurring theme throughout the teasers that tied them all to the idea of the fifth season taking place in a hotel. From a mattresses with a body inside of it to creepy peepholes, they felt like they took place in the confirmed setting. But with “?6”, the question mark is what’s getting us and a lot of fans.

A clever Redditor by the name of SMLR1 posits an interesting concept: What if the reason the current teaser train is so diverse is because only one of them is the real overall theme of the show? And what if we won’t find out which one is the real deal until September 14th, when the show premieres?

If true, this would be a great way to keep fans on their toes. By the time Hotel aired, it felt like there were tons of promos, interviews, photos, and more. A lot of the mystery was simply gone. This time, they have the opportunity to keep the mystery not only afloat but make it a game for everyone that’s looking forward to this season!

Legendary Grimdark ‘Warhammer 40,000’ Artist John Blanche Has Passed Away at 78

In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, but it was a cheerful illustrator from England who helped to define the terrifying war-torn imagery that inspired what we now know as Grimdark (a hybrid genre combining horror with sci-fi/fantasy).

Unfortunately for fans of Warhammer 40,000, Trench Crusade and countless other sources of Grimdark thrills, veteran artist John Blanche passed away this week after struggling with health issues for the past few years.

While the artist retired back in 2023, he leaves us with an enormous legacy of iconic artwork that continues to inspire gamers and storytellers around the world to this very day.

The news is especially gloomy as it was only last year that Daniel Lowman and Napoleon Dynamite himself Jon Heder released The Grim & the Dark: The Search for John Blanche, a documentary following Heder’s exploration of the Grimdark genre culminating in a heartwarming encounter with Blanche in his own home.

Below is one of my favorite pieces by Blanche, his highly influential depiction of Warhammer 40k’s God-Emperor of Mankind on his Golden Throne.

We send our deepest condolences to John Blanche’s family, friends, and fans.
