First Look Video Promises “The Exorcist” Season 2 Will Be Truly Terrifying

“You’re gonna see new types of horror scenes. You’re gonna see scenes so scary that we’re still not quite sure how we’re gonna get them on network TV.”

Jeremy Slater, creator of FOX’s “The Exorcist, makes some pretty bold claims about the forthcoming second season of the series in this brand new first look video, which teases a season that looks to be very different from the first. Marcus and Tomas are back, but the story and setting will take the series down a terrifying new path.

You’re going to get more of everything that makes The Exorcist great,” Slater promises in the preview video, which you can watch below ahead of next week’s premiere.

The new season premieres Friday, Sept. 29 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

In the Season 2 premiere…

“Six months after leaving Chicago, Father Tomas continues his training to become an exorcist under the watchful eye of his partner Marcus Keane. Their travels lead them to a troubled young woman in rural Montana, where their investigation puts them in the crosshairs of her extended family. But as Tomas’ skills continue to grow, Marcus begins to worry that his apprentice is taking unnecessary risks.”

“The action then switches to a secluded private island off the coast of Seattle, where Andy Kim (John Cho, “Star Trek,” “Harold & Kumar”) runs a group home for at-risk foster children, whose lives are disrupted when the state sends a social worker (Li Jun Li, “Quantico,” “Blindspot”) to determine whether the foster home should be closed. Little do they know the true danger is yet to come: a malevolent presence that has set its sights upon one of the children in Andy’s care.”

The main Season 2 cast includes Alfonso Herrera as Father Tomas Ortega; Ben Daniels as Father Marcus Keane; John Cho as Andy Kim; Kurt Egyiawan as Father Bennett; Brianna Hildebrand as Verity; Zuleikha Robinson as Mouse; and Li Jun Li as Rose.

As previously noted, Season One stars Geena Davis, Hannah Kasulka, Brianne Howey and Alan Ruck will NOT be coming back… but they COULD have cameos at some point.

“The Exorcist” is from Morgan Creek Productions in association with 20th Century Fox Television. The series was created by Jeremy Slater. Slater, Sean Crouch, Rupert Wyatt, Roy Lee, James Robinson, David Robinson and Barbara Wall serve as executive producers.

Sounds good, BRING IT! The first season definitely brought some shit, that’s a compliment, the multiple cliffhangers, the characters, & the way they kept everything a guess. Hell they had like 4 major things happen where in any other show they would’ve been a mid-season finale or a season finale. Like I said, season two, BRING IT!

      Yes! This!!

  • What made the original Exorcist scary was that it was an unnatural occurrence in a realistic world. It was a random demonic possession that happened to an ordinary family. After watching the more stylistic show where demonic possessions are an everyday thing, the original is no long as scary as it was before.

I think the biggest mistake the show made was calling itself “The Exorcist”. Sure they managed to tie it in with the Pazuzu thing later on, but over-all this would be better as its own thing.

I completely agree with the scariness thoughts. But it’s a pretty good bridge. It goes from horror to supernatural action quite well.

It reminds me of Mary Tyler Moore and Lou Grant. MTM was a half hour sitcom and LG was an hour long drama with a character from the sitcom. The bridge worked fine there. It’s fine here too.

      • Yeah, maybe they could have marketed it as a spin-off called “Exorcists” or something. It’s not a bad show, but called it The Exorcist wasn’t a good idea.

  • The first season of the show was a surprise hit for me. I went in expecting it to be terrible and instead it quickly became one of my favorite new shows. It’s legit GOOD!

Haven’t watched scream the tv series because I don’t like the scream movies but do you mean it’s not scary? If so I basically agree, but the acting and the story are both good and I was never not interested. Can’t wait for s2!

I would really love it to be terrifying but it doesn’t have to be. I loved the first season but wasn’t really scared by it.
