“The X-Files” Season 11 Premiere Date Announced; Check Out Official Poster

The truth is closer than ever.

Back in January 2016, Mulder and Scully returned after a 15 year absence in a brand new revival season of “The X-Files, which ended up being successful enough that FOX ordered up another season. When can you dig into Season 11?

FOX revealed today that “The X-Files” will re-open on January 3, 2018!

EW recently previewed the first three episodes…

“After episode one delves into the Cigarette Smoking Man’s (William B. Davis) backstory and apparent family ties to Mulder, the second hour opens with a time jump to put distance between Mulder and Scully (David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson) and the events of the premiere. And episode three is a darkly comedic hour, penned by Carter, focusing on doubles and doppelgängers.”

They continued, “But beyond the humor, the larger mythology of The X-Files — like the fallout from Scully’s abduction and the chip that was implanted in her neck — continues to shape Mulder and Scully’s world.

Most of Season 11 will be devoted to “monster of the week” episodes.

Mitch Pileggi, Annabeth Gish and Barbara Hershey are confirmed for the new season.

I literally just forgot what year it was right now.

      I figuratively just forgot..

In case you don’t know season 11 will start in 2 months. 🙂

Honestly for a split moment, my thought was jesus I have to wait over 1 more year??

          lol

  • Really pushing that bright, white light on the poster to hide the aging process lol

Nah, that was probably done digitally. I think the white symbolizes the white noise of the eight forgettable filler episodes that viewers will have to sit through to get to the finale.

Most of the time, I prefer the standalone X-Files episodes to the mythology ones.

While they’ve had some great standalone episodes, personally, I still prefer the mythology. I just think that, with only ten episodes, they should devote more of them to the mytharc. Ideally, I’d say four.

If they wanted to hide the aging process they would use Photoshop.

Gillian actually looks pretty great these days, better than ever I would say. https://www.reddit.com/search?q=gillian+anderson+subreddit%3Aprettyolderwomen&restrict_sr=&sort=top&t=all

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for this. I hope it’s like the good old days of the show. I know that’s a lot to hope for at this point, but you never know.

  • Frank Gambino

wasnt crazy about the revival.. but still excited about this.

    • Chris Wright

I wasn’t even crazy about the original series, but I couldn’t get even twenty minutes of season ten episode one, the quality was just so low. Twin Peaks is where it’s at when it comes to revivals of supernatural 90s programs.

SWEET!! I’ve been worried we’d have to wait til Summer of Fall for this.

hope for some “were monster” like episodes and Agent Doggett appearance.

I didn’t hate season 10 like many, I just didn’t like the heavy retcons of the mythology, so I hope at least a part of it will be undone in the next season. Because it really seems Chris Carter expected us to have Alzheimer… Or maybe he has it.

  • Nahuel Benvenuto

i hope the new episodes dont feel as rushed as previous season

  • Joseph Mayfield

So how about a Twin Peaks, X-files cross over?

  • Evan3

I never thought the novelty of a new batch of X-Files would wear off… until the last season’s. That new season so thoroughly killed any interest I had in the X-Files. Every episode was worse than the last.
