New DLC in “The Alliance” for Dark Fantasy RTS ‘Gord’ Arriving February 28 on Steam [Trailer]

Team 17 Digital and developer Covenant.dev have announced new DLC for their dark fantasy RTS Gord, launching on February 28th on Steam. Titled “The Alliance”, the DLC builds upon Gord’s world, and includes a new campaign totaling 10 hours in length, new enemies for you to face, new biomes, and the ability to tame certain beasts and monsters. Covenant.dev has also released a nine-minute gameplay video showing off the new DLC’s beast-taming mechanics.

No word on when “The Alliance” DLC will arrive on the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series versions of Gord.

Created by a team that includes former Frostpunk and The Witcher 3 developers, Gord sees players command the Tribe of the Dawn and embrace the ethical complexity of leadership as they shepherd their community and protect them from invaders and monstrous beasts. Said monstrous beasts are creatures and deities inspired by Slavic folklore.

Players will have to complete quests to grow the tribe’s settlements (known as ‘gords’) and fortify them from invaders while managing their populace. You will need to oversee your tribe’s hunger, disease, and trauma, as well as nurturing their faith and training them for battle. That overseeing also includes managing their citizens’ sanity, as everything from illness to hunger and the death of kin can have devastating impact on their lives and well-being.

Puppet Combo Brings ‘The Glass Staircase’ to Steam, Consoles on May 24 [Trailer]

Puppet Combo are once again taking it old-school in more ways than one. Originally released in 2019 on itch.io, the developer has announced that their PS2 Survival Horror-inspired title The Glass Staircase will be headed to Steam, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch on May 24.

Described as “a short-form old-school psychological horror game”, The Glass Staircase takes place in 1922, inside a dilapidated estate converted into an orphanage. Four girls attempt to survive long enough to complete their chores and find a new home. As these things go, unknowable horrors have punctuated the history of the house, and they’re about to learn about them the hard way.

Rather than focusing on grotesque slasher horror, The Glass Staircase is a surreal and atmospheric game, inspired by PS2 survival horror titles like Silent Hill 2 and the GameCube classic Eternal Darkness. Of course, you have to toss in those classic 80s Italian horror movies such as The Beyond, House by the Cemetery, and Suspiria.

Players will be able to customize their experience in The Glass Staircase with a selection of control styles (including the classic tank controls), graphical modes, and CRT effects. You can go for the classic lo-fi experience, or opt for something more modern.

If you’re keen on seeing what we originally thought when the game first released way back when, you can check out our impressions of the itch.io version.
