The Future Games Show Summer Showcase received its dose of retro Survival Horror content thanks to publisher Kwalee and indie developer Malformation Games, who have released an intense new gameplay trailer for their upcoming title, Ground Zero. The trailer offers a glimpse into the game’s haunting setting, the city of Busan, now plunged into chaos following a catastrophic meteor strike.

Coming to PC via Steam, Ground Zero takes place after the aforementioned devastating meteor impact on South Korea. 2 months later, as the dust and lightning storms settle and the air becomes breathable, an elite Korean operative and her Canadian partner are sent to investigate. What waits for them in the foggy remains is a city in ruins, and every living thing transformed into a terrifying monstrous threat.

Sporting a familiar cinematic fixed camera, Ground Zero will have players defending themselves with an array of abilities. The trailer also highlights some of the weapons and survival tools available in the player’s arsenal, providing a first look at how players will defend themselves and adapt to the unforgiving post-apocalyptic landscape. You’ll need to dodge, shoot, stab, kick and counter in order to survive. Cleaner kills means more Genome Points, which can be traded for powerful gear upgrades.

And just in case the references to Resident Evil weren’t enough, there are plenty of unlockables and extra content for you to enjoy. That includes alternate outfits, additional game modes and hidden endings if you’re curious enough to find them.
