“Crimson Eye” Event Returns to ‘Phasmophobia’, Now Stands at 30 Million Sold

Despite having been in Early Access for what seems like forever, Kinetic Games continues to pile on the sales numbers for Phasmophobia. Coinciding with the return of the Crimson Eye Halloween event, the developer has announced that the co-op horror title has now hit 30 million in sales since its Early Access release across PC and consoles.

Since launching into Early Access in 2020, Phasmophobia has continually grown, with Kinetic Games expanding and evolving the game with new content and seasonal events. Until November 1st, Crimson Eye brings ghost hunters spectral rewards, frights and bone-chilling challenges, with rotating event maps featuring blood moon weather for even more terrifying hunts. Ghosts have increased speed and your sanity drains quicker, but if you endure, you’ll earn higher rewards in return.

“So much has changed since I started making Phasmophobia on my own at my parents’ house,” says Kinetic Games CEO and Phasmophobia Game Director, Daniel Knight. “My initial goal was to sell 1000 units in the first year, so it’s hard to believe we’re celebrating 30 million. I’m so grateful to everyone who has played, and to the team who have worked alongside me on it. There is plenty more to come as we head towards 1.0.”

And speaking of 1.0, Kinetic Games is gearing up for the highly anticipated release, which is slated for the second half of 2027. Beginning next year, the studio will share sneak peeks into the update’s development, including major overhauls to ghost design and overall gameplay.

Meanwhile, here’s what players can expect for this year’s Crimson Moon event:

  • Community Goals: Earn the Beholder ID Card and Badge, and the Blood Moon Trophy.
  • Personal Goals: Unlock the Blood Moon Charm, seasonal event tee and upgrades to the Crimson Eye trophy. For players who have previously unlocked the trophy, rather than unlocking a new trophy you’ll earn points towards your existing one.
  • Twitch drops: Unlock a Crimson Eye t-shirt cosmetic in-game by watching 2 hours of Phasmophobia streams from now until October 15th.
  • Double XP and Rewards Event: The higher the risk, the higher the reward. Between October 15th-22nd, all investigations completed will grant boosted rewards.

Phasmophobia is available in Early Access on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR2, and the Xbox Series.
