Last September, it was reported that Edward Ricourt (Now You See Me) was hard at work on Nightwatch, another of Sony’s Marvel adaptations that was set to follow Venom‘s success. At the time, it was rumored that Spike Lee was targeted to direct the character’s first big screen appearance, although it’s officially been shot down over at ScreenRant.
Nightwatch interestingly crosses into Venom‘s territory as he appeared in Spider-Man’s “Maximum Carnage” story arc. For those who saw Venom, the film ended with Woody Harrelson‘s Carnage being set up as the sequel’s antagonist.
