Movies where kids are in actual danger (and not treated like idiots)

I’m a seriously coldhearted bastard. Want to know why? Because I don’t give a damn if a child gets injured or even dies in a movie. In fact, I want to see more of it. There’s an argument that states that we’re never really concerned when children are in danger because we instinctively know – and this is something built into us based on our own childhood – that the grown ups in their lives will be able to save them. But what if those adults can’t do a thing and the children are still in trouble?
Look at the films I suggested as well as ones like A Serbian Film or Pan’s Labyrinth. Think how much of an impact those films had when the credits began rolling. Those are films that will stick with you for life, guaranteed. We need more films like that.
