Night Of The Living Dead
I remember seeing this movie for the first time one beautiful, sunny afternoon in the middle of summer. The sky was cerulean blue with cotton ball-esque clouds floating in the sky, birds chirping happily as a gentle breeze rustled the vibrant green leaves of the trees outside the window. And I sat there absolutely terrified for my life.
This was a monster that didn’t care what time of the day it was, what the weather was like, nothing. It was an unstoppable force that went wherever it smelled its dinner and there was nothing that people could do about it because we simply could not put aside our differences for long enough to save ourselves. The thought that, no matter the situation, people could not work together even in the face of pure horror just destroyed me.
While it doesn’t have necessarily the same effect on me anymore, Night Of The Living Dead still holds a cold, dead grip on my soul that refuses to let go.
