Kanye West – The College Dropout
It’s literally, literally, not a good day if I don’t listen to at least one Kanye album. And I KNOW… he’s so horrible/vain/stupid/opinionated, ugh he was so mean to Taylor Swift, eww Kanye? Gross! Right, I get it. No one likes him. But damnit, the man is so talented that it blows my simple little mind. I’ve been so focused on his new stuff lately that when I decided to go back to his earlier work the other day, I was so pleasantly surprised. It’s hard to remember a sincere Kanye West pre-Taylor Swift/Jay Z/Kim Kardashian, but he still exists in The College Dropout and everything he presents over the course of that album is so brutally honest and raw that it hurts. It’s something a listener can really grab onto.
