Freddy Krueger – Nightmare On Elm Street
I feel like I need to explain myself with this one. Freddy isn’t usually one to wear a mask, preferring to kill with his burned face staring the kids right in the face. However, we can’t argue that Freddy doesn’t love looking like other people to enhance a nightmare, adding to the fear. Remember the “hall pass” teacher? Or what about Heather’s father in Dream Warriors?
What makes his “masks” so effective is that the victims never fully realize that they’re being misled until it’s too late. By that point, they’re already too close and it’s pretty much all over. That’s why he scared me, because I never knew if what I was seeing was actually real or a puppet whose strings were being pulled by Freddy.
