Tehran UFO Incident – September 19, 1976
This incident took place over the capital of Iran, as a UFO was seen on radar during the morning of September 19. The object was approached by two jets and both of them lost power as they got closer to the object. It was only when the jets flew away from the UFO that they gained back all communication and instrumentation that they had previously lost. While everyone involved has claimed that it was, in fact, a UFO, journalist Philip J. Klass has gone on record stating that the main witness to the incident most likely saw the planet Jupiter and that equipment malfunction combined with pilot incompetence most likely accounted for the loss of power.
