Tucker and Dale VS Evil
“I was working at a production company that got a screener of this and I made myself a copy on a whim, then watched it with a buddy one night, this was back in 2011. I remember we were both so blown away and laughing so incredibly hard. I think the best part about this film is the chemistry between the leads, really all the characters are great. But the film was executed so perfectly from a tonal perspective – very hard to do. I think dark comedy in general is one of the most difficult to pull off. So you have these affable, totally lovable hillbillies that are mistaken to be crazy killers by a group of archetypal spring breakers, which, are themselves cartoonishly hilarious; it’s brilliant. There’s moments that are just gory funny for the sake of bloody insanity, then suddenly it’s heartwarming and we’re remembering this movie’s maybe just about finding a connection with a[n insanely hot] girl. It’s satirical and sweet and, man, what a great movie and maybe so underrated. If you haven’t seen it it’s on Netflix now.”
