3. The Stand
The Stand is a beast. It’s also one of the best novels ever written. What prevents it from being my favorite King novel is its literal deus ex machina ending, but other than that it’s one of the most interesting books you will ever read. When I first purchased the novel, I didn’t realize it was the 1,152-page uncut edition (though I purchased my paperback copy in London, which was 1,400 pages). As weird as it sounds, I can’t imagine reading a shorter version of this tome because every little detail seemed that important. I haven’t read anything quite like The Stand, and I’m doing it a disservice by reducing its impact to this littly blurb, but it truly is an amazing book. If you can spare a bit lot of time, definitely treat yourself with The Stand.
